OT Sotra: Got Engaged!

Since we are getting a bit more 'personal' on posts recently, please allow me to share the great news that i got engaged last night to this truly amazing woman (and yes she loves the Bentley). FYI: Never been married so you know she is something very special indeed! Below is her Facebook profile pic, and it has Bentley content so maybe this is ON topic and not OFF Topic?

Congrats Steven. But it doesn't mean you have to give her a date.

ROFL! Just so you know, we both agree that a life partnership is fine, and thus we are 'married' when we say we are/have a ceremony though not of the legally binding type that follows the current norms of human society. My life tends to be very avantgarde in various aspects and this is one of them.

Exactly, I am still engaged for three years and I treat it like a marriage. My young and free spirited days have gone and passed. I am much more reserved than my peers that actually got married and have kids. They partied, cheat on their wives, go through divorces. I just wonder, why get married at all if you are going to destroy it years down the line? My parents marriage is til death do us part. My father died in 2000. My mother still grieves over him. Interesting concept for a lifetime relationship. Til death do us part.

Thanks for sharing Wedgeduck. Know EXACTLY what you are saying and it can be sad how some people act, though that is THEIR life choice.

My parents were high school sweethearts (he was 16 she was 12) and they are still as frisky and deeply in love today... including STILL to this day, over 60 years together later, still groping each other in public(!). Colours me blessed to be raised in such a loving and supportive two-parent environment, which is such a rarity nowadays it seems

That's great news! I know several Heathers and they are all delightful people, so I'm sure your partner shares that trait.

My wife and I have been together for nearly 40 years (we keep forgetting the exact year date), and one of the things she mentions from time to time is how surprised she still is at some of the things I do. Buying the Bentley was one of them so soon after the Vanquish.

While I like to think surprise is the element that keeps her interested, the fact is no-one really has the secret. But that doesn't stop me trying, and maybe that is the key.

(On reflection, I think the real advantage in a continuing relationship is to be stinkin' rich. That's one less thing to argue over

I wish you all happiness!

Congratulations Steven I wish all the happiness in the world. I find your "personal post" perfectly acceptable. I mean we go on about a new pipe or tune and it would be awful to leave off the more important matters like this one.

ps. I should never comment on relationships since I am no expert.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. And yes, this Heather is amazing in so many ways. Those who join us for the Newport Beach get together will meet her in person.

FYI: NEWPORT BEACH
May 31 to June 2 is the show we have to attend. Just a heads up in advance for those who are longterm planners.

Thx and here she is! Heather is showing off one of the new Patek Aquanaut we got this past week (and a 5099 too, though not pictured). She is getting ready for work and showing off the watch as Heather usually wears my Swatch skeleton 'Body & Soul' timepiece. And yes before you guys make fun of me, obviously she is a bit, well, younger than i am yet is a very smart and level-headed lady.
