Garage parking - how does everyone do it?

I have a standard size double garage and the CGT fits in with about a foot free at the front and the same at the rear before the garage door closes on top of the rear bumper (ouch, done that!)

Now, whenever I look around at other garages in photos, I don't see anyone using parking stops of any kind. Even the super garages with plenty of space have the cars are all neatly lined up in perfect precision with nothing up against the front wheels.

How do I get parked precisely like that without using anything on the floor?

Although both my cars have front sensors, they're not really that reliable to guarantee the exact spacing I need. The warning buzzer never gives the exact distance.

I have used the double bump plastic parking pads, but they moved around even when I bolted them to the floor. I now use plastic triangular chocks over a mat now, but that's just messy too.

I want a clean floor free of everything on it - and easy parking. How do I do that?

Don't have an enclosed garage here, so use two concrete squares on the hardpack (one per front tire) as 'stops'.

When you have your car positioned in the garage as you like it, hang a tennis ball from the ceiling-adjusting the length of the string until it just touches the windshield/windscreen, in line with the steering wheel. You then get fore/aft positioning and lateral as well.

Speaking from experience, a tennis ball hurts less than the smaller golf ball when you inadvertently walk into it
It may not be the best/most elegant solution, but it at least keeps the floor clear...

Stick a poster or a picture on the wall, use that as stopping point for your side mirrors, once they aligned, you should be in the same spot every time.

I have a small soft chair along the front wall and when I get the fast beep I'm there. Other than that I'd make a mark on the wall in front of the car and when it "appears" to meet the hood then stop.

I line the mirror up with a box that's against the wall, or if the other spur is already parked, I line the mirrors up of both cars

Of course (slaps forehead), line the mirror up with a mark on the wall. I forgot I did this a few years ago, but after changing a number of cars in quick succession was always worried I'd forget which mark went with which car. This is the obvious answer, thanks all!

The thought occurred to buy a matching CGT for this, but something stopped me

@DonL
Unfortunately the tennis ball comes under my definition of 'mess', so this is a no-go.

"Landmarks" on the wall work well. We also sometimes put the cars into reverse and use the camera to see/double check how far in the car is. Make sure your car is in far enough and, assuming it fits in the garage/spot, you're set!

I use a small mark on the floor behind my car that lines up with the red line in the rear camera. I put it in reverse then drive and pull in watching the line to appear. Dead on every time.

Very simple and inexpensive dead accurate every time. Motion sensor and car cover 2 cars. I have 5 garages and have this unit working in every spot:

I looked at those, but worried about a battery giving up and the car ploughing into the front wall when the sensors were dead. Have you had a power problem yet?

The low tech mirror idea idea seems to most reliable so far.

Even though I won't be using that idea - I go in forwards - I'm intrigued by the accuracy. Must be another way to use that for street parking etc.

My garage is 8' wide so it's a bit tight. It's pretty deep so I have lots of space fore and aft, though. I fold in the mirrors and go in headfirst using dead reckoning. I know when to stop because the satellite radio usually cuts out when I'm in deep enough. I have a landmark on the back wall which I line up with the center of the bonnet and I invariably end up just right. Practice makes perfect. So far, that is...

No batteries plugs in to power supply for the garage door opener!
