Rico access seems quite restricted in there. Did you remove the air ducts? Where did you buy the switch from buddy? Thanks a million.
not the latch but the micro switch as it showing bonnet open.
H You going to have to buy the whole latch its a complete part Flying Spares 01455 292949 give me a few mins ill get you the part number ...
To remove the light in the dash pull the plug off the bonnet latch & bridge the pins the light will go out ...
Thanks Rico, before I splash out £500 or so was gonna strip the current ones and see if these could be repaired. I am on another Audi forum and they are quite good with these things. Just need to take one off to see.

The unit is a complete unit with both the laches on with the micro switches attached, like I said which ever side has failed remove the plug & bridge the pins, at least the dash light will go out.
I wouldn't spend £500, its an easy repair if you need to switches to work as you still have one working. either bridge the pins & wait till the other fails or replace the unit, or you can fit a new switch on the side of the panel they cost around £5 & wire it to the plug buy cutting it of the end of the latch solder it to the new switch & plug it back on the loom. You could do this to both of them problem solved for under a tenner & an hours labour ...

sorry Rico haven’t had the chance to look at this yet due to lockdown. Will hopefully look at it next few days. Rico any links to those switches £5 ones?
also did you change the whole unit on your one?
Folks posting an alternative solution that I just did on my car to the dreaded Hood Open Warning Light Dash Message
4 Days ago my Hood light stayed on and would not turn off after closing the hood.
After too many attempts to open/close push in push around finally came to terms with I have a problem.
Researching here, I came across this forum and was about to pull the trigger on buying the replacement from Flying Spurs.
But... after watching a Land Rover video dealing with a similar problem I had an idea. - What if it is just dirty and the micro switch in the lock is not getting a connection?
24 hours ago I sprayed the both locking mechanisms down lightly with DW40 - degrease/de-clog potential dirt? (All i had handy better products out there).
Let it sit, soak, degrease for 24 hours.
Today I Filled up my air compressor to the max and air cleaned at full pressure both the left and right side locking mechanism (mostly pushing air inside the lock mechanism from different angles)
Used up at-least Full Tank of air per side, probably more.
Hood light message is is now off, opening closing no issues
I suspect one of the side locks (no way to tell witch) built up dirt/grease/grime and caused the failure, and we have not choice but to spend spend hundreds on replacements parts, all this may needs is a good cleaning. In reality the microswitch in side the lock has to be pretty simple technology either sensing or not sensing a connection when locked.. if dirt is obstructing it we are calling it failed. Maybe not failed after all.
Anyway worked for me, cost nothing took 20 minutes, Any mechanic should be able to do this for you in 5 minutes as a first step.
Plan B was to replace the entire locking mechanism - nothing loose before diving in for the full replacement, give it a try.
