Hope the fix is uncomplicated and not to expensive. I had ECU's remapped and never had any issues.

Ok, misfire update.

I took the very helpful advice of Westy and ordered new plugs and coils packs. It took me around 2-3 hours to change all 12 plugs and coils with no issues - the spray can tip was great, saved me changing the 2 damn oetiker clamps. I also ordered the metal inlet manifold gasket, it was only 4 pounds.

Then the moment of truth, will the car start, will it misfire?

Started first time and runs sweet, no misfire and all 12 cylinders are firing beautifully on full boost.

Thanks for all your help guys! really appreciated.

Cylinder no. 3 was the only coil pack that I had a slight issue with because of the metal piping that runs next to it.

Is there a way to distinguish whether the removed coils are the original factory ones?

That plug gap looks a bit large. Have you checked them as it might mean your coils are still OK. An oversized gap would definitely cause a high rev misfire.

Glad to hear you got this sorted.

Im also in Cheshire and after Bentley Knutsford blatantly trying to rip me off with a quote for a load of work which wasn't even required I also use Ivor at GT Services.

Did you get yours remapped again?

Im interested in having my 06 GT remapped but I'm confused by all the different options available. The prices seem to be wildly different for the same result, I'm looking for similar gains (around 610bhp mark)

Smile

Hey guys, I been following your posts and I'm about to attempt this maintenance as well. My main question is does anyone have the vw or audi part numbers for the spark plug & ignition parts, Also the manifold gasket part number. My bentley is a 2006 flying spur. I'll also be doing a detailed diy video to add to the forum once I'm done. Thank you

Spray can tip? Part numbers? Somehow it appears information has been transmitted that some of us can't find. I'm interested as well.

Is it essential to change the gasket as part of this process or only if you damage it?

Under medium heavy to heavy acceleration from highway speeds to pass other cars my 2008 GT Speed (30,000 miles) stumbled and shot a code for misfire. Erased the code but it came back under the same circumstances.

After reading other posts I was guessing defective coils. But the dealer tech who pulled codes P0300 and P0302 says he thinks its spark plugs and the coil issue was for earlier years like 2004-2006. Is that so? What do you think about replacing just the plugs?

Speaking of plugs the NGK PZFR6Q11 are the super high end design and cost plugs. So why do they need replaced so often? In my case 30,000 miles and in normal circumstances the Maintenance Manual says at the 40,000 mile or 8 year service. In every other car platinum plugs last 100,000 miles these days.

Coil issue was for 2006-ish models, so probably solved by 2008 yet you never know.

I really think they are but can't swear to it. After all it is a VW engine. Just 2 turbos added. Same intake gasket too.
