Happened during warm-up. I was at Lime Rock for that race, but came in a bit later after the crash occured. People said it sounded like a huge explosion. Both drivers (Bentley & Aston Martin) remain hospitalized. Car 87 hit the Aston with such force that it flew over it, cleared the barriers and landed in the woods behind the track. It is completely destroyed and was left in the woods (It was impossible to get it out). It took 20 minutes to extract Andrew Palmer from the car.

I actually met Andrew in person at a Bentley Speed event 3 days before the race. Shook hands, got an autograph, etc. Car 87 was there as well. Now it's gone. Its crazy.

My thoughts go out to Andrew and his family. Let's hope for a speedy recovery.

 

Yipes! Having raced at LRP many times, can attest to her being an unforgiving mistress. Hope both drivers get back to 100% soon.
