GT Holding water - Drivers Door Sill

Hi Guys

My 06 GT has been parked outside unused for around 4-5 days and we have had quite a bit of rainfall. I went out to use it last night and when I opened the drivers door it released quite a fair bit of water that poured out onto the floor.

Im assuming there must be a drainage hole somewhere around the sill or door area does anyone know where I could find it and best method to clear it out?

Im worried if I had left it longer it would have caused water ingress into the drivers footwell and could cause further issues.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Hello Mike,

Please post some pictures of your door and complete gasket area, as if I understand what you mean, you are saying that water was inside past the gasket lying on the sill, there are no drain holes in the sill area as the water should never make it there, the door has a two gasket system plus another gasket on the door jam of the body, so I would check that all gaskets are in place and not deformed in any way.

There is some rubber damage to the chromed area next to the bottom of the rear window

not sure if that could be the issue? Iv priced up both the upper and lower rubber seals. Lower comes in around £35 and upper is £650

Hello Mike,
Yes I would say that the damaged portion of the upper gasket by the rear window is letting the water in as it is pretty well torn up, and then the double gasket system on the door itself is holding the water in, that is why you have water on the sill, the door system is doing it's job but the quarter glass seal/upper door jam is not, bend down and look at the bottom of the door to see what I mean about the lower door gasket trapping the water, if you fix the top then no water should get in, I have that complete upper gasket, but I am across the pond...

sending PM.
