Top on 2013 GTC won't come down

Top on 2013 GTC won't come down
Put it up and now it won't come down. The roof fault light has been on for sometime and I have it come on before without the top failing. When I push the button to lower the top it makes a noise like it is trying to lower.
Any ideas as to what may be wrong?
