Parking Brake Warning Light
 

I was hoping to get some advice here.

The parking brake warning light appeared on my dash a few weeks ago. However, the parking brake still functions as it should. The light is annoying as I can't see anything on the display, the light stays on all the time.

Is it reasonable that it could be reset or coded to not appear if there is some gremlin making it read a false positive?

As long as the brake works do I need to be concerned with the light?

i know some 2005 to 2007 (or so) models had a situation with a bad sensor on the right rear. The 2006 GT had this problem and it is an easy fix as they replace the sensor assembly on/by the inner caliper.

Without reading EPB codes, its hard to say what it could be. I have replaced both Parking Brake Motors (bolts to caliper) and Park Brake Switches in the center console.

BT...what year/model do/did you have...you replaced both park motors and switch/switches...did that cure warning light issue...where is Lake Norman

Firstly scan to see which side sensor needs to be replaced. I ordered the part from: http://www.flyingspares.com/shop/ben...w0698996e.html

I was driving in the snow last month and had the light come on again, I checked the sensor connector and water had gotten in. I cleaned the connector, put some dielectric grease on it and the error went away. Worth a try.

I've had the light come on a few times on my 2006 GT, typically after not using the parking brake for quite a while (they do seem to like to be used regularly)..Perhaps lucky, but by engaging the park brake on and off a number of times, the light would go away. Lucky and cheap fix at least for now. Using the park brake more regularly, the light has not been seen again, and hopefully that continues. Anyway, sure you have tried this but if not it is free to try...

its usually the 1st sign of one of the parking brake motors going bad. you can usually just activate the parking brake switch about 6 times non stop (do it with door closed then you will see P fault go away. you can also activate brake and hold switch up about 30 seconds. one of those will work in the early stages of the P fault. the motor is very easy to replace two screws and the motor will work on left or right same part.

I'm currently having a recurring Parking Brake warning. it does clear when I set and release the parking brake switch.

Is there a general consensus what causes this? It sounds like it often times is the parking brake motor connection at the rear wheel.

On my 2009 CGT.
