Rear pads GT replacement

Has anyone tried this to back up the electric parking brake motor , so to retract the piston

You can also remove the motor with two torx bolts ,then with another torx turn it manually to back up out of the way so it can be pushed back in the normal way .

When all reinstalled apparently you just cycle the park brake a few times .

Do theses work on Bentley 04 GT .s ?

I check the pictures on google images the rear callipers are the same common part used widely across the VAG com group , as is the way with Bentley mechanisms .

Hello John,
I have not done rear brakes on the GT yet, but I would think it would be the same procedure as when I do the rear brakes on my Audi A8L W12, whereas I use the Ross-Tech to open the calipers, and then close them, but also to recalibrate the pad thickness for the brake service light to go off, the ideas in the videos would definitely work to open them, but what about that service light...

Yes that’s what I thought ?
At the local parts store a mechanic mentioned that .Resetting the light and also cautioned about blowing ECUs for the brakes with some of these diagnostic / tool thingys that are not quite compatible, prob is it’s too late when you find out !
So on balance I have booked it in a local garage after checking they do VAG cars in Bentley/ A8 RS stuff .

Sounds like nobodies on here has pushed back the rear pistons using either one of those techniques so I,am not gonna be the 1st ,
Aside it’s having its winter tyres fitted as well at the same time .

Aware the Ross tech unit is ok for this .

Thx for replying Jonny

By way of an update the local tyre and brakes ( all makes they said ) place could not get there computer to connect with the car .They said it was ok with other VAG com cars and even had the Bentley logo on the touch screen to select .But it did not connect .
So they could not do the rear pads as unable to retract the piston(s) .

Back home I phoned our local Audi garage ( less than 10 mikes away ) as we have an Audi under there care ( fairly new ) .Eventually got through to the service techs who said even there Audi systems would not work either - much to my surprise !!

.I did mention the A8 and RS something or others that share the same parts - nope they said ,
Maybe they can,t be arsed ? Or some Co policy as the Bentley dealer is in the same group but over a 100 miles away -Grrrr.!

Anyhow ive been using a pair of time served guys specialist nearer for the tech / computer stuff , They have the correct computer and relevant updates and are doing rear pads all day so I’ve booked it in with them next week .

I do wonder what would happen if you actually did one of the U tube fixes in post #1 but it feels like nobodies done rear pads in a Conti sans a VAG com system or Ross Tech on here never mind .

Fwiw the ride is better ie softer with the OEM ( see the handbook ) winter Dunlop’s on .
The Summer Pirelli,s are definitely harder side wall wise and transmit more through .

Its not a sports car so I cannot feel any handlings differences round the various alpine hairpins , just quieter and more refined with the W Dunlop’s on .
They are only rated for 168 mph though but that’s ok as we never really go over 90 anyhow .
