Sadly not this is becoming seriously stressfull were quite handy when working on and building cars but none of this is making sense .

Well, I feel like an ***..... I had no idea that Euro models of many brands have the deadlock setup, there must be some information in a Euro owners manual on how to enable and disable the deadlock on the GT, even if it is not working, I am very curious as to how one would enable and disable it with normal use, as now your example of the van deadlocking makes sense now because it's a Euro thing, but also strange that one would be trapped in the car, my Audi A8L W12 has something similar in a way, I have pull the inner door handle twice to unlock and open the door when locked after driving at speed.

So your latch mechanisms have something extra in them to render the inner and outer pull cables useless, this I want to see, I looked up RHD part number to search for pictures of latch, but I can not see a difference so far, still searching, maybe will find a extra lever or something else to get it out of deadlock, RHD wiring shows deadlock motor....

Do you want me to get pictures of the backside of the striker area after I get the rear side panel off, it may not be until Sunday though...

At this point Johnny I do not know what to do now.but worth a look and see what it entails.this is not looking to be resolved very quickly by the looks of things 🙈

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!!!!
Ok so after every possible engineer,mechanic,postman,electrician,plumber and all round know it all have had a stab at this problem,a friend popped around this morning we talked through and I mentioned on a VW forum(door locks are the same) a guy said he uses a hammer and he hits it with a piece of wood against the lock after lots of looking and scratching of heads he pulled the inner handle again and again whilst banging around the outside of the door (the old fonzarelli method from happy days) and Shazam!!!!!! The doors opened !!! Unbelievable if he wasn't so ugly I could of kissed him but settled for a high five instead.this goes to show our thoughts that the lock wasn't fully cycling was right whod of thought a sharp bang in the correct place would solve the problem.so now I will be removing the locks cleaning and inspecting them and refitting ,I think I will leave the door trim panels off for the first few days just in case but I am happy we know what the issue was .I have to thank everyone especially Johnny Hotspur GT for your massive efforts in helping me with this and hopefully one day it will save someone from a huge bill at the dealership. I'm not sure if it's possible but can I change the title of my post to "deadlocked doors" so somoeb else can find easier. THANKS again guys

But I have to ask, did you not do the hip/thigh bumping of the door while pulling handles to jiggle some movement in the latch mechanism as I suggested in prior post ?

PLEASE, take pictures of the Euro style lock/latch mechanism so I can see the difference in amount of wires, levers, etc.

To be honest Johnny I didn't even see that part of your post although we did many times try rattling the door whilst trying levers.i will certainly try and take some pictures to check if these locks are indeed different .and we'll see if what the supposed be they master techs really know what they're going on about.thanks again mate you've been invaluable on this crusade

Did you ever have any update on this as to what caused the problem ?

As we have a fellow member here in the states who is now locked out of his Flying Spur, his vehicle is locked, all windows up, and a dead house battery, the key blade in the lock cylinder turns left and right with resistance as it should, but the door fails to open, I have suggested that he jack up the vehicle, remove the belly pan and or right side wheel liner to gain access to the alternator hot lead to feed juice back to the battery to use the keyfob, or key blade in cylinder holding the the left to put all the windows down.

I thought I did but maybe I forgot to.
OK so my scenario was to do with the guy who wrapped my car not installing the door handles properly, the small clip that is used to pretension the handles he'd installed incorrectly so once doors self locked when driving the clip actually got stuck on both doors. I managed to removed all interior seats and cards and still couldn't open them, I bought a small WiFi camera from. EBay and still couldn't figure it out, after three weeks of torment and nearmt taking a disc cutter to the door my friend came around pulled handle vigorously and banged with the flat of his hands below the handle and would you believe it both doors opened after about three strong bangs 🙈 I could of kissed him. The jolting moved the clip just enough to allow handle to operate. Mine was nothing to do with a flat battery but saying that his door should still operate via a key

I had told Dan (person locked out) to give it the hip thigh bump, but he had no luck, then he tried the wood dowel on the lock cylinder, still no go, so I told him to go from the bottom of side to get to the alternator hot lead to feed juice, he was working on that approach when he decided to try banging on the door again, I guess he got rough with it, and it popped open !!

It's an odd situation for the door lock or latch to jam because of a dead battery...

I am experiencing this same issue, after putting door cards back on, the laser we door worked fine, tested it 3 or 4 times, had to start the car and turn it round to do the other door card and now the passenger door won’t open from inside or outside, tried the drivers and that doing the same thing, we have the windows down luckily but can’t figure out the issue, we thought battery as one is flat but have bypassed this to an external and same issue, changed key fob battery, the makes the unlock sounds but doesn’t open, we ge the red light when lock is pressed…..manual key unlock won’t work either, it makes the sound but won’t open!

a specialist said something about pre loading the handles but not sure, also read how the car might still think it’s driving so is auto locked but we have left the batteries disconnected to try and rest but no difference.

any ideas on getting them open welcome!

We’re at the point where it seems the only solution is to cut the door open! Both doors not opening but the passenger door worked fine until we started the car moved it around, the it stopped working and neither does the drivers either.

car has one flat battery so we suspect this has something to do with it but even the manual key opening doesn’t work.

any help appreciated

Have you tried everything described in this thread, it seems that one really has to get rough with the exterior door handle giving them a good yank, while beating on the door itself with your hand below the handle, as stated above, this method has now worked for two members here.

Which vehicle battery is flat, the house battery ?
Also, please tell us you location in the world.
