Gillis51 is infamous around these parts
GTC convertible hydraulics

I haven’t tried to open the top on my GTC since arrival and don’t plan to until I can start repairs.

I believe the issue to be related to at least one hydraulic cylinder leaking. There is a strong odor of hydraulic fluid in the vehicle. Before servicing I will be checking fluid level to verify low fluid level.

questions
1) is there a scanner that can verify trouble codes? I’m considering vag-com scam tool. Will this check all operations in the vehicle?
2) does anyone here have experience removing the hydraulic cylinders and pump from a GTC? Any instructions, recommendations, starting pints, etc.

considering a complete rebuilt system from top hydraulics. Any experience with this group?

thanks in advance
