Upgrades for the 2001 M3 carbon blk/cinnamon vert

Hey guys wanted to know wat upgrades you would get for an m3. I was thinking of first gettin the car detailed first. Then i was thinking of getting a Gruppe M exhaust system and a Gruppe M intake. Just wanna hear what you guys think and recommendations are helpful thanks!

well it all depends do u want looks first or performanance mods? i would go with an exuast along with some coilovers. then wheels. then do headers and section 2 upgrade . and then get ur ecu flashe ur mods . i wouldnt leav the intake as is , it perfectly dsigned , just but a drop in and thats it ,

and later if u want more geta set of 4.10 gears wich will be the most bang for ur buck .

gruppe m anything is a waste of money - less expensive mods will yield more power and produce a better sound

power mods for the m3 are kinda a waste of money, they will produce very little power for the money - but imo an AFE or K/N intake system for 400-500 will give you double the power of gruppe and cost a third of the price

exhaust, i would go eisen. race or a FULL supersprint system from the headers to midpipes to exhuast... yea, go with a SS full race setup... youll be very happy, with an intake, thats your best bet for power

4.10 gears later for sure, make it breathe better before the gears a

and if you got 15k lying around get a turbo set up and just a turbo set up and itll run 11's...

Gruppe M intake is a waste of money, and their exhaust is wayyyyyy too damn loud.

Detail it yourself
Get some painted reflectors for the front bumper
A different muffler, Streamline filter
Some good coilovers

What do you want to upgrade???

here i will post some pics of my car:

so Gruppe M is just a waste of money. So go with SS exhaust full race system, someone mentioned the K&N intake (which one?) or just keep the stock, and then eventually 4.10 gears ? That looks good to me, but now can someone give me a idea of the approx amount of money i will need for this? Also i need to change the rotors soon for the car as they will wear out soon, should i get brembos ? Lastly the detailing any threads where i can detail my car to perfection ?

Ok so here is the to do list:

1. Detail it myself
2. Install SuperSprint Full Race System (cost ?)
3. Install K & N 63 Series Intake ( cost ?)
4. Install the 4.10 Gears ( cost ?)
5. Remove the CDV
6. Look into maybe Brembos, but new rotors for sure
7. enjoy

full SS race exhaust system with:

V2 Headers 1700
race cats 1900
non resonated midpipe 550
race exhaust 1700-1900

if you go to D/A's website you can get all these, plus their race software fo like 5500, so thats a great deal!

K&N intake is like 350 i think

gears will run 1000 plus 1000 for the install unless you do the whole diff like i have its more.

youre looking at around 8K.

honestly, i would say do the gears first, best bang for the buck. then do the other stuff. i would also just get the oem zcp rotors unless you neeeeed the brembos.

very nice vert btw!

STREAMLINE GREEN FILTER
SUPERSPRINT FULL RACE EXHAUST AND HEADER OR DIXIS TITANIUM SYSTEM
I personally wouldn't change the gearing of the car

Thats all you need without going broke.

There's only one K&N intake for the E46 M3.

You could also get Evosport headers for less. The only way to make any real power is to change the US headers out and add some race cats. You have an '01, so you still have the rattle. The heads and race cats are suppose to help, or you could get some resonators from Rogue to kill that buzz. UUC also has a pipe that does it but is more money. The full exhaust is a LOT of money and the EVOsport ones are much cheaper.

Since you're going to do the brakes soon, then consider some Brembo's instead. You can sometimes find a used set on M3forum or E46Fanatics.

If it's a manual, then get a short shifter and tranny mounts. You'll love the way it makes the car feel.

Good luck.
