Worth it to get the 6-series?

Hi, I'm looking into purchasing a used 6-series (most likely the 645Ci), between the years 2004-2006. Are there any changes scheduled for this model in the near future? I like to get the latest looking model and want to know if I'll be clear on this for the next few years. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!

FYI - I'm also looking into a used MB SL500 as well but have the same concerns.

There will be mechanical updates i would imagine, just like what they are doing with the 5-series. Major body changes arnt likely i wouldnt have thought.

The 6 series is getting a minor facelift, search it on Google and a bunch of results will pop up. It is really subtle, I can't really tell what is different.

The SL is soon getting a facelift too, a very major one:

For the money a Carrera would be my first choice, but I guess you are looking for a change since I assume you currently have one.

My second choice in that price range would be the 6-series. I like how it is a big luxurious GT coupe. But very different than a Carerra in terms of handling. Compared to the SL it can squish in four people if necessary, and I would tend to think it would be more reliable.

Thanks guys for the helpful responses.

To focusedmindset: I do currently have a 996 C2 and like you thought, am looking for a bit of a change right now. I'm definitely leaning toward the BMW now and thanks again for your help!

Well if you want the latest 6 series it would be a 650, not a 645. The minor facelift for 2008 would definitely not be enough for me to pay the extra $ to get the 08. I would say stick with the 650...I believe those are 06's+. However, I honestly prefer the new 335i coupe over the 6. I prefer its styilng and handling. That's why I bought one The MB SL is nice too. I had lots of problems with my last 2 benzes, so it will be a while before I consider getting another.

Without being Biased To the OP I'd get the 335 over the 6 anyday of the week firstly it's better designed IMO and the interior (room wise) is much more comfortable especially in the rear in the 3 rather then the 6 and the 335 is faster and will handle better before you even modify it.And I'm pretty sure for the price of the used 6 you can get a NEW 335 sounds like the best way to go IMO.I'm coming from an 04' CL55 AMG and I love my 335 what does that tell you? .If this was when the 6 first came out then I'd say get the 6 or even the SL cause I still actually like that car but I think the 335i is better in basically every category.

I would say... get the 6, and do a Hamann kit. As much as I love the SL, the 500 just doesnt do it for me, the non-AMG body doesnt really cut it, and the lack of power is sad.

And if you are considering the SL500 more, dont worry about facelift, MB said they werent doing it until 2010, so you can figure 2009 at the earliest.
