I just returned from the M-Driving Experience and we used the new E90 M3 with DCT. The transmission shifts are amazing! I would definitely get the DCT. I've previously owned a 2005 E46 M3 6MT and would upgrade to the new generation M3 w/DCT.

DCT is cool. But I preferred the manual after driving both. The manual still feels more connected.

Manual is more fun to drive - DCT is faster though. I useda be able to say I shifted faster than the SMG E46 M3's - but DCT is un-beatable.

i agree with both of you guys wholeheartedly...i would buy the dct if i tracked or was more of a speed junkie, but the manual is much more connected....
i just read some where that the 2009 m3 coupe will be different looking than the 08....face-lift, is this true?

wonder why they didn`t come up with it yet
My novice assumption is that's because of the massive torque the AMGs produce would probably rip apart a DCT transmission. That's why pre their new 7-speed speedshift tranny, a lot of the fairly new AMG models still had a 5 speed slushbox, I'm thinking in particular the SL65. That thing is a beast.

I'd agree w/ the people that say DCT for DD though. I love my manual but being in rush hour kills it.

Which transmission would be better suited for future power modifications like the upcoming supercharger applications? I'm assuming the DCT would be more likely to fail. And upgrading the clutch on a manual is a fairly easy mod.
