E46 CSL Engine Parts

Hello,

Besides on dinancars.com (for the camshafts) where can I find quality parts for an e46 m3? I'm looking for CSL Valves, Camshafts, more information on the different exhaust system, the intake, basically the engine differences between the normal M3 and the CSL.

Thanks in advance.

+1 for m3forum.net, lots of very knowledgeable people

unless you go FI you will end up spending a lot of money for very minimal gains, bmw engineers got almost as much as its possible to get out of the car

M3forum.net is a good forum to find a few CSL goodies here and there. I've seen interior bits, airboxes, headers, and OEM exterior pieces here and there. I haven't seen the cams for sale however, but you can always get more aggressive ones anyway.

basically, the differences of the csl engine and the standard engine are the intake, cams, exhaust valves, headers, cats and also the wiring harnesses. however the most important distinction is that the csl engine does not use a maf sensor. it uses a map sensor and a hybrid alpha-n system. however you can retrofit these parts without the wiring harness (as doing that will cost way more). its just that your intake will always be open and without the flap that the csl uses. you can get all the hardware from martin@bimmernav. as for the software, you can get it from bimmerworld or ca automotive from the uk.

hope this info helps.

You really need a CSL VIN# to get legit parts, I rarely see OEM CSL parts ever on M3 forum.

nope that was right a few years ago but nowadays you can get them without the vin. a lot of vendors can source oem csl parts. i had quite a bit of oem csl parts installed on my previous e46 m3.

Its hard to come by OEM CSL parts, and either harder to get OEM CSL engine parts... if speed is what you're looking for, look into the HPF turbo kit.

Unless you are roadracing, or simply just want CSL parts, I would just supercharge it. The E46 M3 is not very mod friendly from a horsepower standpoint.

you can either spend a ton of money buying csl parts and end up getting a very small hp gain and have a car that will never be a true csl or you can get a turbo or supercharger and get a ton more power and end up with a car that will destroy any real csl and a ton of other cars that cost twice as much

They do show up quite frequently now, but more in the shape of body parts. Mainly the only OEM CSL engine parts that come for sale are the headers, but it is possible to locate other parts given the proper
funding.
