e46 M3 questions
e46 M3 questions
looking at getting an e46 m3 as a track car. I found an '04 with only 27k miles and i'm getting it tech inspected this weekend. Anything I should tell them to check besides the sub-frame recall issue and make sure there wasn't any OD rollback?
Thanks in advance.

27k is the point where Inspection I is due. It can be kinda pricey. Check the link below for everything the tech checks..

If youre stripping it out for the track, I might be interested in some parts off of you. Let me know if you are or not.
Other than that, the mileage is hella low and these engines last a while. Good luck.
thanks for the link/info.
if everything checks out, you'll definitely be the first to know about available parts. probably just interior stuff and stock brakes/suspension.
Thanks again.

Lol Im in the same boat, also considering an E46 M3 as a dedicated track car for next year.
Hopefully PCA wont give us too much cr@p for running other marquees
I got 50,000 miles on my 05 M3 and it was rock solid. My dad had one and used it as a track car before moving on to his CaymanS and also loved it.
By far the best handling/easiest to control car he's driven. If I get my M3 he may be a little jealous. But of course he can run it any time he likes.
Aside from that if you develop any vibration on your brakes while braking after some track time, dont listen to people telling you you warped your rotors, just get them polished and all vibrations will go away. Besides that the car was great on the track, but if you get an SMG it may refuse to shift gears depending on how hard you run it. I believe it was 3-4 that was causing a problem most.
