Sunday there was a private track day rental at Palm Beach International Raceway. I thought I would tag along in my 07 Z4MC. This was my first time at the strip and now I caught the bug. I'm already ready to trade in for a faster car and a real gearbox. I know this isn't a "drag car" but you would think BMW would make a shift **** that would stay in place. I was also having issues getting into 2nd gear on some runs with the infamous grinding issue.

I am running stock everything, didn't check psi, and used my ****ty ContiSportContact tires. My best 60ft was a 2.01 but I grinded 2nd so I couldn't finish the run clean. My highest trap was a 106.8 and my quickest E.T. was a 13.42. All in all I was pretty happy with my times.

I had 18 runs on the day and only stopped because it got rained out. I had a bunch of 2.0x - 2.2 60fts but I couldn't seem to get it quicker than 2.01.

Weather conditions were 80°F with 65% humidity..I only know this because all of the "serious" racers were complaining.

AMS brought a couple of their GTR's trapping in the 160's, there was the heffner tt gallardo trapping in the 140's so pretty awesome first time at the strip!

Not bad times. I wonder how mine would do with the 3.91s...

As for your shift ****, you didn't see one come off in Jason Plato's hand during the 5th Gear review? Yet when you want to remove the thing, like when I swapped in the ZHP ****, you nearly kill yourself getting it off.

Yea I was hoping to get under 2.0 60fts so I'm planning my next ride to the strip and also with an actual shift **** this time. I really wanna know what the 3.91s are capable of too

I didn't see that video but I gotta go check it out lol Funny thing after the track I put the **** back on, and it's been the biggest pita to uninstall!!

Thanks it was really amazing!
Um let me try to remember everything he has done with respect to power performance lol..

eagle rods, cp pistons, 9.5:1 cr, s52 crank, 87mm block, (3.2L) o-ringed block, steedspeed manifold, precision 6266 turbo, m50 manifold, Vipec pnp ecu, tuned on 93 first, then will be using e85 sensor to run e85 where available. 3.5" downpipe split to two 3" pipes, completely stock head/cams.

He was hoping to finish the build in the next three weeks but the ecu just went on backorder so it should be done in probably a month.
He's trying to be around 600whp on pump (93 octane) and who knows on e85

He's doing all his own work in my cousin's shop, but he is lazy so this has taken longer than I hoped.. I made him come to the track rental to motivate him lol

I've loved this car since it was released. Pretty hard to come by these days.
