Question BMW X5 - Feedback

Hello! I am looking at a replacement vehicle (November) and one of the vehicles I am considering is an X5. I currently have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee (company vehicle) and like the idea of retaining an SUV in the lineup.

I am thinking of purchasing used and the vehicle will be driven less than 20 miles/day so diesel isn't likely the engine option I would choose.

What I would be interested in learning is:

What years would you recommend?

Anything to avoid?

Any options that are highly coveted?

General comments from current or previous owners?

Appreciate any insight provided!
Eric

I sold BMW in the past for almost 7 years and I am very familiar with the X5. First thing I would recommend is to get the 6 cyl turbo motor. The gas mileage is not that far off the diesel because it comes with the 8 speed auto instead of the 6 speed on the diesel. Not to mention 300hp and 300 tq. The engine is so smooth and pulls strong throughout the rev range. Packages I would get include Premium Pack, Cold Weather Pack, Rear Climate and Tech Pack. The Tech is nice because of the Nav and Backup Camera. Sport pack is nice but rare.If it is in your budget go with a nice CPO SAV because of the warranty and the fact most certified cars will also offer low financing rates. Being most of those cars were leased you should have a good variety of 3 year old ones coming off lease to choose from. If you go with the 35i you will not be disappointed. Feel free to PM me with any questions as I would be glad to help.

X5

Ryan, thanks for your counsel here. I think I like the idea of a 3 year lease return. Is that the most common lease term for BMW?

I am looking to spend around $30 and would like to get something around 50kms or less. Cold weather and tech pack seem to be ideal.

I will keep looking, thanks!

We have a 2010 35d and love it. For a diesel it hauls *** and tows our 14ft 2 horse trailer no problem. It also gets 26mpg on the highway and about 19-20 in the city so bonus!

Tech package is nice and sport package looks great but the tires don't last as long and are $$$ to replace!
