I've always been a fan of the Imola Red version and saw a sharp one earlier today... How do you like the 4.6 / 4.8? Do you think it is too dated?
How does it compare to the Cayenne? |
I have a 2005 4.8is in LemansBlue and love it...
Yes, the looks might be a bit outdated but is still one of the best looking one out there... and for the price is a great deal vs CTT. Are you in the market for one? |
I had an '02 4.6 with an Eisenmann Race exhaust and it sounded awesome! I had to dump it after the wife got into an accident though.

It's so much a better truck than the Cayenne. It's a sports sedan in camo. I have test driven several CTT's, tried to like them but other than the power not much there for me. Very heavy, way overboosted steering, disconnected road feel compared to the X5. I have a '04 4.4 and I love it. The 4.8 is a big upgrade from the 4.6, that's the one to have.

some larger pics if someone's interested

The 4.8 doesnt really stand out that much from a standand X compared to the way the 4.6 did.....and I think its the rims....I like the 4.6 rims better.....just my .02

Both the 4.6 and 4.8 are faster than a Cayenne S, Too mee the X5 is more sportyish and I regret of not getting a Individual X5 4.8is because its priced same as the Cayenne S in Kuwait, And who cares if its outdatted its one of the hottest Suv's around.
My Friend has a 2003 X5 4.6is and has put 77,000km's on it since March 2003 and still loves it and its his only car, he is waiting for the newer 2nd gen X5 that is not very far from production |
we have a x5 4.8 with about 70,000 miles on the clock...it still runs like the day we took her off the showroom floor
|
like jay-z said, let the wifey drive the x5
i'd rather have the supercharged rover |
I have an Imola Red '03 4.6iS and I love it. If I were in the market now for a sport ute, I would choose the CTT though. The 4.6 handles great and has good power but the interior is dated and the style is a little also. I have 49,500 miles and it has really been rock solid. Although lately a few things have gone wrong, but that is what warranty is for. I actually just bought the extended warranty and maintenance warranty just in case something else goes wrong. Either the 4.6 or 4.8 are solid choices if the price and condition are right.

i had on 02 4.6is... best SUV ever owned.... Estoril Blue... best color IMO...
I had dinan chip/hamman exhaust done to it... |
i have a black 06 4.8is and I love it. Its a very fast and great handling car but without sacrificing comfort like the cayenne turbo. I felt a little hesistant getting mine 10 months ago because of the news of the new X5 but honestly I am happy with the old style and the 4.8 still has better perfomance than the new ones. Now they are probably going for cheaper so I'd say go for it

With me it was the oppisite. Having owned the 4.4 and 4.8iS before. In comparison with the Touareg V10 and Cayenne TT and ML63 the X5 4.8iS is a POS IMO. Mine was a 2004 model and it's steering was the heaviest out of all the SUV's. The power wasn't that great either, plus I thought the tranny sucked as well, doesn't shift at the right RPMS etc. Although I must say the brakes in the 4.8iS are superb. Anyway, that's the experience I have with the car. Just my personal opinion.
F11: The Cayenne Turbo is 10x more comfortable than the X5... http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a51/MikeS277/X5_44.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a51...77/X5_48iS.jpg |
