i know this is really **** and picky, but my professional requires me to be very meticulous and detailed so i notice small stuff like this.
the car has a body line about 4/5ths of the way up the car...this line appears to connect to the vent on the front quarter panel (the engine cooling vent), but if you look closely, the line from the body is very noticably higher than the line where the cooling vent it. they were meant to look as if it were one big body line, but the vent is clearly lower and not lined up correctly. its small details like this that bmw doesnt get right anymore.

Yes, it has lost a little of its edginess, but I believe it is a better car for it. It never feels like it is pretending to be a race car, but it plays the role of ultra fast, luxurious road car very convincingly. It provides levels of luxury and refinement previously unknown in this segment, whilst delivering performance to compete with cars costing twice as much. Some people may say that it has become too soft, but really it has just evolved. It is more comfortable to drive and the performance is far easier to exploit. It does everything the previous car did, but it does it with less fuss and yet it will still leave you with a huge grin on your face every time you drive it. In short, the M3 has grown up!"
Same for me ... the E46 is just so clean.

Looking at the other pics in that review (which is an awesome read no doubt about it) I've noticed some interesting things about the shape of the car. The bulge really does look funky (kind of looks like a tumor), but the front end overall indicates nothing short of all business. Yet, as the eye gets drawn towards the back of the car it leaves something to be desired; the rear end falls on its face and just stops short, not as bad as the old ti's, but bad enough. At least that color hides horrid shape that is those mirrors and blends them into the car a bit.
I am resolving final judgement till I see one lowered with a nice set of wheels and probably a front lip.

Some of you are being overly critical, it's a great looking car (a bit heavy though). Take the e36 for example, most will agree that it's a nice design, but the styling is dated compared to the e46. Trust me, you will ALL love the e92M.
I tbink BMW funkt up the nose and tail of the new M3... In my opinion anyway... The first time I saw an E46 M3 I almost crashed my car (And I had an NSX) because I was staring so much as it went the other way... If I saw this car drive past, it just wouldn't have the same effect on me... Bummer...
