the way *I* see this review is...tiff says its a good car, but nowhere do i hear him say its a great car. my take is this.

ok its faster than a base 911, and on par with the rs4 (not as fast a a 997S obv and should be faster than a base 997 and should be faster than an rs4)

but usually when they do a review like this, the make comparisons, and say the new car has better 'this' than the prev one and it does 'this' better.

nowhere did tiff say this car is better than the e46 m3 just that its faster in a straight line and has more electronics. he didnt even mention the e46 m3 and how it compares, and he also doesnt seem too blown away by the car like he was with the e46 m3. still not exciting to me.

When he said the car feels lazier kind of shows the character of the car. Wrong direction for the M3 IMHO.

+1...also he mentioned that unless youre at speed, the steering feel isnt weighted enough. honestly, how many people are going to be GOING 80+ mph AND powersliding (where he said the steering was good) their way to the mall, or a restaurant, or grocery shopping?

I was reading a review from an owner of an M3 that mentioned the steering has servos in it which make the steering completely lifeless and numb at low speeds to aid with parking maneuvers and at high speed tightens up a lot to give good feel. I think that's ridiculous, it's like saying this car's only decent when you're doing over 80, go under and we'll make it rubbish.

BTW, PorscheC4, I love your M3, are you on E46 fanatics?

Haha I wish the 430 was mine. Currently on the lookout for an M3 to turbo. The HPF kit is calling me.

Does anyone know if 5th gear is supposed to do another more indepth test of the M3? This one just didn't feel like a full test.

I'd consider Tiff Needells review a bad review. If he did not compare it to the previous model m3. This review was very short and did not supply as much information as I would have liked to hear.
