996 wheels for 986

I am looking at some stock 2003 C2 996 wheels. I understand the fronts fit with no issue, but there is an issue in the back.

What do I need to fit these on the rear of the Boxster?

The rear offset of the 996 wheels are more than likely way too big to fit on a Boxster without spacers.

You'll need a set of spacers...I don't remember exactly which size...I *think* it was in the vicinity of 15 or 17mm spacers, but I would definitely double check on that...

You need to end up with a 47 or 48mm offset for a 10" rear. 996 C2 is normally ET65, so 17mm spacers would be needed. With a 15mm spacer, they would likely hit the struts.

Thank you all for your responses.

Would the tire rub the fender well with 17mm spacers on?

Also would I need to buy longer lug nuts to account for the spacers (who sells them)?

What brand spacers do you recommend (and where to buy it)?

Thank you in advnace for your help.

hello,

we put our 996 rims on my 986. they are 235/30/19's with a 7mm spacer on the rears. otherwise, they would rub on the shocks. =)

good luck!

The wheels are stock 996 wheels, so do I need 17 or 7mm spacers?

I had some 8mm spacers lying around so I decided to try them out. 8mm is not enough. The wheel was hiting the shock. So I doubled up for a total of 16mm, it seem to work. The lug nuts were no long enough to even hold the wheel on.

I called Suncoast Porsche and they recommended these:

So I'll get them and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for all the help.

Check boothedesign.com for spacers and longer bolts.
