Cayman S with Sach's Coilovers

So I got a chance to track the Cayman with the new Sach's Coilover setup. 3 20 minute sessions. Talk about a gokart!! I found I could dive into corners harder without any lean. Stock the car is excellent, with the Sach's it's just unbelievable! It brought out my weekpoint on the car, 265/35's (too small) on the rear. Getting out of corners I could get the backend loose easier than when stock. That'll be fixed with the 305's on the 997 turbo wheels! hilarious

The interesting thing that I noticed is how many people mentioned how hard I was pulling on the straights, which you wouldn't generally think of as a high point on the Cayman with "only" 295hp.

Anyway, back to the point: The Sach's setup was great! And it's goreous to look at too!

EDIT: added pic to give a better perspective on how low (or how NOT super-low) it is:

Until you try to pull in your driveway! LOL!

I'm going to have it raised just a hair, maybe 1/2" if that when I put the 997 turbo wheels on. It's insane sitting next to a Corolla and looking at the middle of their door! But oooooooh does it feel nice!

that is way too low IMO. I love the car (same as mine for the most part) but I think it looks like a mexican lowrider! Raise her up a tad and she will be great. Can't wait to see it with the turbo wheels.

I don't think the pics do it justice. Last weekend at the track I had probably a dozen people come over and ask about the car...all absolutely loving the look. If you look at it from the side it looks more like a stock 3-series BMW where the top of the tires are just tucked in the wheel well.

Mexican lowrider..........hilarious

Here's an additional pic. Should give you a better perspective than the other pic where my 6'3" frame is taking a picture down on the car. Notice where the tire level is: very 3-series BMW-like. Not up in the fender well like the other picture has most of you assuming.

And I take no offense, don't worry. I know some poeple dig the factory lifted 4x4 look! LOL!

Frissen May 14, 2008 08:31 PM

That's low but must work marvels at the track...

Besides the Sachs what were your choices and why you chose Sachs over other options? just curious... thanks

I didn't mean any offense. My car is lowered too :) From the first pic, it was just a bad angle...that pic is a little better. I have PASM so mine was lower from the factory and I got it with OEM 5mm spacers, but when I lowered it even more, the wheels which were originally flush looking, sunk in like yours. I ended up with 15mm spacers in the rear and 5mm in the front...and it is perfect! I have thought about going to 997 Carrera S wheels in the rear...so your turbo ones should fill it out nicely and you might find that you are raising the car up a bit.

Exactly what I'm going to do: raise it up maybe 1/2". I think then I'll be exactly where I want, especially with the wider tires! I'm doing the 15mm spacers in the rear, longer bolts, and new bolts/lugs in the front to match the rears.

Frissen - the Sach's came highly recommended. I got a chance to actually see/feel the setup with my own hands. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the product. Each piece was heavy, but in a way that a Bently is heavy; a very solid and durable feel. I looked at a few other setups but was most impressed with this setup, although it's the only one I got my hands on.

No worries, I'm in Arizona with flat, smooth, pothole free roads. And since I track the car, low is the way to go! No 4x4 look here! hilarious

As far as I understand it, Evolution Motorsports (www.evoms.com) is the only reseller in the US. Give them a call and ask for Mike. He knows all about the setup. From my personal experience of picking them up out of the box, they're a true piece of artwork compared to any other setup I've done on my various cars over the years. Very heavy, solid, and extremely high quality look and feel.

Check out www.sachssport.com they carry all the sachs suspension and clutch products offered in the US from coilover kits to racing dampers.
