My 2 cents: Cut the side pieces down just about 3 inches or so. Then move the top wing towards the rear of the car & center it on the 2 side pieces. Right now the wing (to me) sits too high & too forward. If the sides were centered on the top wing, I think they'll look MUCH better. Doing that will also allow you to bring the wing down closer to the car... and dont forget to cut about 3 inches off the top of each of the side mounts. My 2 cents. ;o)

I attached a photo of 2 cars we've modified the tails on... & made them unique, and pretty "balanced" looking too.

I think you can work with what you have... but will need to do something with the side pieces (even though we can't see it from your photos very well). They probably look too tall & awkward on the car from certain angles (without a base). The base on the Techart tail gives an "anchored feel" to the tail. The shorter you can make the side pieces, I think the better the tail will look. Also... moving the tail towards the rear of the car more, will give the car a more stretched out look... that I think looks nice. Not a major movement... just 4 inches or so backwards I think will do the trick. ;o)
Do I get any change back for my 2 cents? hehe

Yes You get a full Dime for that sugestion, I like It .
Yes I agree if they can reduce the outer wing part that goes downward and shorten it some that would give you that option of moving it back 4" s
I really like they wing you posted .
They did reduce the heighth of the wing from the techart styed one and the current wing sits 3/4 inch from the rear deck . like your sugestions though ,awsome

Gracias. I like the look of the top wing being just off the hind quarters of the car by about 1 to 2 inches. Seems to make the wing look more "part of the car" instead of looking tacked on.

Even though the tails I've put on the 2 cars in the photos look way-wild, I think they still seem to blend into the body styles... if that's possible.

I think you are onto something with that wing. The crappiest part of trying to do what your doing, is, the tips of the wing (I think) are going to want to hit/touch the quarterpanels, before you can lower it as much as you want to. Moving the tail-top backwards will help you lower the tail-top, more though. ;o)

You are Right on with you sugestions !! They tried lowereing the height by just shaving down the 2 pilar parts that bolt on the rear but on the first try the ends of the wing that go down rubbed the 1/4 panels ,OUCH!!

By trimming down those ends that bend down if would give them them several options that were not available before. Will see if there is an updated photo or some new tweaks that have been updated. Thanks for your help

I would prefer the factory aero kit with it's fixed wing simply because that wing actually was designed by engineers and tested in the wind tunnel. I wish someone would make a replica of it lol

i've been following Tess' threads on his replica wing but that project hasn't made any progress for a long time now. The last I heard, which is months ago, he was still trying to fabricate the piece that replaces the factory wing blade.

I would be down to do a group buy esp. since I know there are a number of people also interested in the factory aero kit, especially since it's an actually proven design.

time to stop the thread jack.

I think the GT2 style wing looks great. I've always liked the techart GT wing, but hated that base that comes with it.

I will have this new Gt-2 styled wing on my cayman in 2 weeks or so . I have donated my car to be the Guinea Pig for the project .
Basically its a going to be a scaled down Tech Art styled wing .a little lower ,smaller end parts that go down and mounted on the rear hatch .Its looking like the Gt-3 rear wing some .No base part or rear brake light and right around 1K unpainted I have great trust in NRAA that it will look great

Doesn't quite flow with the shape of the car.
