Ya know I use to always think that it had to FLOW with THE SHAPE of the car to look good just as you stated and was stuck on this image in my head for a long time but I recently collected pictures of about 15 different rear spoilers for Porsches and when it comes down to it the best looking ones DO NOT flow with the shape of the car? Including the GT-2 and Gt-3 Rear wings and especially the Porsche GT Cup cars You telling me that FLOWS WITH THE LINES OF THE CAR? heck NO its quite the oppisite .The BEST looking Rear Wings are the ones that have their OWN life and personality IMO. They have a Life and statement of their own to be reckon with
I have photo-shopped and sketched over 100 possible Ideas for the Rear of my Cayman and most of them trying to design one the FLOWS WITH THE CAR LINES just as you stated it should be .I found my way back full circle to the FIRST one I started with after almost 1 years time. The Techart Styled Gt-2 Rear wing and a close 2nd the Speedart Rear wing and Both do not have ANY FLOWING countour with the Rear of the Cayman . Sometimes Oppisites attract and IMO that is the case here.
Lets get away from calling a rear wing on a Porsche "RICE LOOKING" if it is too big Because frankly its exactly what the Cayman needs IMO .
Try walking Up to a Techart design team member and saying "HEY DUDE THE WING IS TOO BIG AND LOOKS KINDA RICEY" how stupid would that be ? these guys at Techart and speedart know what they are doing and so far My hat goes off to them for designing the BEST rear wings for the Cayman so far .
I have also relized you could have 50 different rear wings and most everyone will like a different one .
I am hoping that this new Rear wing will combine the 2 best designs IMO so far with just a tad of the Gt-3 rear wing in there as well .( the mounted on the rear deck part)
sometimes you just have to go for it and do it, If it looks crappy start over and repeat this until you are satisfied , "Porsche wasnt built in a Day"

well put. i agree, to each their own, talking **** about one wing over another gets us no where. many people will pick form over function. i'm not one of them, but that doesn't discount the fact that a lot of people put a lot of time and money into designing and fabricating the product.

please do share with us pictures as you get them. best of luck ! if they want to do a replica aerokit wing, tell them they can use my car as guinea pig = )

correct me if i'm wrong, but the gen 2 and gen 1 is identical, but different to compensate for the different front bumper right ?

would love to jump on a group buy for a replica aerokit = )

I cannott remember if the gen 1 is the same or not .The one I was referring to was the latest one that was just released 3 -4 months ago or so , It looked. like the current wing only bigger .It should have been the Standard Wing on the Cayman IMO. I was Quoted from the dealer the complete package somewhere arond 5K so I gave up on it.

The gen 1 and 2 aerokits share the same rear spoiler, but the front bumper lips are different.

suncoastric

Thanks for Clarifying that
Well here is another photo of the Rear Wing I am putting on my Cayman .
This is not the Exact wing but should be close.
and a Picture of the Techart wing so you can see they are very similar but different
In person they are not as high as they look in the pictures
