Thank god my clutch went out - saved my engine - IMS eminent failure

This is the year of transmission expense for me. CTT replacement $8K.

So the weather is getting better and I take the 02 986S out for a spin. Huh!? clutch pedal feels odd. Car shifts fine, but something is dragging and vibrating just a bit.

Back to Matrix to see what is up. No fluid leaks in the MC, so take it apart to see what is up.

Pressure plate looks a bit odd:

And then I get the second call - You might want to come down to see this. OH NO!

IMS is moments away from engine BOOOM!
Oh well - LN replacement is on the way. Glad we found it this way as opposed to 200miles out, in the middle of the night, on a dark and twisty...with, heaven forbid, the wife driving.

Add new clutch, rear pads, driver's side window sensor to the bill and I pick it up tonight.

my ims hit in a car wash - caught it later, but like you, at least it wasn't 10 minutes later when i would have been on a 4 lane motorway.
