2 Porsche's 50 years apart...
My first Porsche was a 2000 996, but it gave way to a 2008 C6 Corvette; brutal horsepower but far less sophistication.
Somewhere along the line I test drove a 986 and wasn't particularly impressed so ruled out Boxsters.
Then I got the Cayman bug, but I really NEED a vert for several reasons these days, so I reluctantly went back to look at newer 987s.
When I drove this '07 Boxster S w/ Tiptronic it was love at first sight and I couldn't be happier. It has "enough" horesepower, KILLER handling, the growl of a Porsche engine behind you and flexibility with the Tiptronic. It only had 8000 on it when I bought it two weeks ago. Now it has 9000.
BUT NOW... I'm thinking about another Porsche for a stablemate in the garage. But this time I'm thinking about a 1957 Speedster- or more accurately a reproduction from Vintage or Beck.
I'm not sure I could afford an original, and if I could I'd be afraid to drive it anywhere. But a $20K-$30K reproduction would be very driveable and how cool would it be to have two Porsche's in the garage a half century apart: 1957-2007.
Just thinking out loud with others who share the same affliction.

All great minds think alike.
I have a Spyder and am hoping to someday own a Speedster replica. the real ones are obviously cooler - but i agree with you - the 20-30k ones would be a hoot to drive all the time and park out front of Applebees on a Friday night hahahahaha
