Discount Negotiation - 2017 Boxster S
Greetings,
If this isn't the right place, please direct me where I should post this question. I haven't purchased a vehicle in over 14 years, and would love to be able to purchase a Porsche, a brand I've wanted for nearly as long.
I was hoping to get some information about how to properly negotiate the purchase of a used 2017 Boxster S.
https://www.porscheaustin.com/auto/used-2017-porsche-718-boxster-s-roadster-austin-tx/25362349/
From reading various threads on this forum, and searching through Kelly Blue Book, True Car, and Edmunds, I am still unsure what a reasonable price would be for the car. I understand that the dealership exists to make money, so I am hoping to be able to come out with some number that leaves both sides of the deal feeling like they won. A few threads here have suggested anywhere from 8% to 20% price drop on various vehicles. There also seem to be claims of the 718 not moving very well.
After some negotiation, the sales rep has agreed to $1,200 price drop and is willing to add the CPO warranty.
Is asking for 15% off asking and CPO insulting? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Ignore the 20% stuff - dealers are not discounting prices 20% (internet myth).
That is probably a $65k car, might be higher in Austin since there is enough income to support sports car purchases. I don’t think asking $5k off their ask price is an insult and will not damage overall negotiations. Asking for $14k off (20%) will likely just get ignored. If you want a 2017 low mileage S for $60k or lower, it might take some work and require you to pick it up out of state.
Ultimately, decide what you are comfortable paying and find the car that is right for you. You really won’t care about a few thousand $$ after you drive it home.

Thanks so much for the advice. I was able to get it to negotiate it down a bit and get CPO added for a nominal cost. Final result is a 57 month unlimited mileage warranty. The best part is I am now the proud owner of my first Porsche! I look forward to interacting more with the community and getting involved with fellow Porsche owners in the Austin area! Thanks again!
