Since gas is a big issue these days I thought I'd do some tests on my trip home yesterday. On my 357 mile trip from Pensacola to Jacksonville, Florida I used the in car mpg readout to test different speeds. I traveled at least 30 miles for each run with the cruise control set. For the last run (55 mph) I traveled over 150 miles with cruise control on.

At..
70 mph the vehicle averaged 19.2 mpg
65 mph the vehicle averaged 21.4 mpg
60 mph the vehicle averaged 22.5 mpg
55 mph the vehicle averaged 24.4 mpg

Can anybody confirm how accurate the in car mpg readout is?

 

I'd be interested in 85 MPH.....
