Post Engine "prep" required ??? 09 Turbo S

Hi guys,

I owned a 08 Turbo which I sold this week. I bought it with about 6 000 miles on it.

I am getting a 09 Turbo S and it's brand new, no mile, still at the port.

I wanted to know if there is a certain preparation required for the engine:

- don't rev up above certain RMP
- don't go over certain speed limit

If such is required then for how long (how many miles)?

Since my 08 Turbo was not "brand new", I never got to do any of that and what to do it right with the Turbo S.

I ask because I owned a bmw m3 e46 with sgm transmission (bought brand new) and such prep was required (dont go above 5000 rpm and 100 mph for I think 1500 miles).

Thanks all ahead of time

drive as you stole it, nothing required. even though there is a rumor which says don't go over 4000rpm, ignore it. I talked to several tech guys who worked for Porsche for more than 25 years and they all say there is no such thing as break in period...

HAHAHAHA I like the "drive as you stole it".

Ok then, thanks for the update. No break in period on the Cayenne.

the main reason for the break in period is to avoid any damages that might be caused by the tiny metal flakes that used to stay around the engine parts before the ultra precise CNC processing invented. Now everything is so precise that you can forget about the break in period.

Hammer down. Burn out leaving the dealership. You will notice a slight increase in overall performance in the first couple thousand miles. Midrange seemed to get better. Race the first Vette you see and watch his chin hit the floor.
