I'm officially "Porsche-less"

The Cayenne Turbo is gone! After 18 months and 37,000 miles, I was in need of a change. I'll miss the performance, ride and handling, but none of the minor annoyances that have plagued so many of the early cars. For the record, I got $60,000 - I paid $92,000 - that's nearly a 35% hit! I wasn't unhappy with the CT and contemplated buying an '05, but with the equipment I wanted - it would have listed for well over $100k - and with the mileage I drive, I just didn't want to take the same hit.
Here's what I bought - '04 Range Rover - Bonatti Grey with Charcoal/Jet, Luxury Package and 20" wheels. I've always loved the styling of the RR, but was hesitant to buy one because of it's limited performance, especially compared to a CT (I previously had a BMW 4.6is). However, after almost 100 miles of highway and backroads, I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. The BMW Steptronic tranny is great, especially in sport mode (just like the 4.6), and at 80 mph, the truck is quiet and the ride is great. The exhaust has a nice rumble too under hard acceleration. It also handles pretty well for a big SUV with limited body roll. The quality seems good too - the doors close with more of a "thunk" than the CT - and it's nice to have a larger storage area. For anyone interested in a leftover '04, RR is offering a $4k rebate. Without any haggling, I got a total of $9k off which just about covered the $11k I was underwater in the CT! |

I've already checked into mods! :D Matt at Meridian sells the Overfinch line of wheels and accessories. They have a nice set of 22s in silver and shadow chrome finish. I kind of like the shadow chrome. What do you guys think?

Nice ride ESK ;) You know, you can always step up the RR performance at Hamann...
Will those Overfinch rims fit 2003 Discoveries as well? very nice wheels. Also, i'm looking into lowering our Disco, any ideas where I can turn to? |
ESK,
go with the shadow chrome. Matt showed me & it looks dope especially with ur color! |
Parker - Thanks. I'm not sure about the Disco, but Matt would know for sure. Meridianonline.us
Arling - I'm leaning that way too. Any chance of using some of your Photoshop magic and put them on my RR? TIA. |
Arling: isn't that your shop? :)
ESK: you are very fast!!!! you already plan mods on a brand new car, well done!! |
Let's darken it first.

Sad to see the Turbo go Eric, but glad to see you moved into a very nice SUV in its own right. The Range Rover just screams class. You may also want to look into HRE and Antera rims for it. Or maybe even some spinners;).
