Michelin Diamaris noisy?

There is a major noise from the tires, I am running 285/35/22 and it is alot noisier than my stock tires(Turanza)

Kevin.M: does it happen to you? I am running 43psi front and 45psi rear... what about you?

Does anyone know whether it is supposed to be that noisy?

Deetz, The 22" has much lower profile and less rubber to cushion. You will always here more noise out of lower profile tires. You think it is bad now, just wait til you get 2,500 to 5,000 miles, then you will hear noise!

Deetz,
Are 285's the widest you can go with 22"s without them extending past the fenders?

Look at the tires you bought:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....l=4X4+Diamaris

Vs. the ones you had:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....l=Turanza+ER30

A directional tire (the Michelin) will be noisier than a circumfirential tire (The BStone) because the tread runs against the direction of the tire, and not with it. A directional tire's tread "slaps" the ground, especially as they wear.

We don't find that many people complain of the noise of the Michelin. But the tire is awfully wide. And a wide, low profile tire will become more noisy as they wear.

The Michelins are not bad in the beginning, but after around 6,000 miles or so you really start to notice the tire noise.

295/30/22 you can get with 22x10 wheels... bigger than that will stick out

I am hearing something noisy, what else can it be besides the tires?

I used to run 295/30/22 on my x5 with pirelli scorpion zero and it was not as loud as this... I need some help here, any ideas?

Thanks! I think I'm going with 22" black Techarts with a silver outer lip. Why'd you switch from the scorpions?

I have to run 285 because my wheels are not 10.0 but they are 9.5

Deetz,
Why did you go with 9.5 instead of 10 on your rims? They look awesome!!

thanks, they can't make 10 due to the part problem. I have asked 100000 times so you don't have to bother. In order to clear the big brakes, you can only have 2" lip and you can go either with 9.5 or 10.5. Personally I prefer 9.5" because it doesnt stick out as you can see from the picture. 10.5" does look better but it will stick out by 0.25"

Deetz,
If I were to get the 10.5", could I have a bigger lip on the rims?
I think black rims only look good with a wider silver lip. What is the part problem that you were referring to? thanks again.

Oh, I forgot. What about reverse rims for a bigger offset? Any problem clearing the brakes with 22"X10 or 10.5?

they don't make 22x10 for the Cayenne. If you get 10.5", you can have 3" lip

try to ask Mr Wheelexperts (Peter) or Mr LucentMotors (Arling) they will explain it to you ^^ you should get it from them too
