Dealer charging for things I thought were included in the CPO warranty
Dealer charging for things I thought were included in the CPO warranty
I have a Porsche extended warranty till oct 2010.
1. The dealer wants to charge $1411.50 to replace a side aribag module. They claim that the electronics for the airbag are covered under the warranty but the module isnt.
2. $863.30 to replace the stereo head unit. the unit has been replaced once before under the original warranty (this would make it the 3rd radio to go in)
Shouldn't all of this be covered under the extended warranty? is there anyplace I can find the list of things that are or arent covered? I was under the impression and I believe I read somewhere from Posche that "the extended warranty was as good as the original"
Help! thanks!

yes it is a real CPO warranty(not a 3rd party warranty sold thorugh the dealer) I bought it from my dealer about a month before my original 4/50k miles warranty ran out.
I can't take it to another dealer as it is the only one on the island(Puerto Rico)

again, it should be covered. I would recommend chatting with the service mgr or the general manager. Don't hesitate taking it all the way up directly to Porsche.
You purchased the CPO warranty for these issues.
You purchased the CPO warranty for these issues.
In the past 2-3 yrs it has become impossible to add a CPO warranty after you already bought the car.
Prior to that the ONLY way you could do it was to have a dealer that was willing to dummy the paperwork to make it look like they bought the car from you, inspected and CPO'd it, then sold it back to you. PCNA caught onto this and put a stop to it.
The dealer routinely sends out flyers asking if you want to extend your warranty. It is very misleading. But I have called them and probed about where the warranty was from and they will reluctantly admit it is a 3rd party.
That being said, there are lots of posts about people who bought a used car from a Porsche dealer w/ CPO that will get denied at one dealer and taken care of without question at another.

I contacted PLA (Porsche Latin America) and they said on the phone it should be covered, I emailed them the quote the dealer gave and are going to get in touch wit them. Hopefully it will take care of the situation.
you can add it, the car has to be fully inspected and a full service done (which it was) it was done on oct. 2008. Ill keep you guys posted on how this all turns out.
Unless PR has some different rules (from Porsche), I don't think you have an actual CPO warranty.

It sounds like you are being screwed. However, Porsche of North America disallowed replacement of my back seat clips under warranty. Even Porsche-AG is not backing their CPO cars fully in North America, and with VW taking over ownership, it will only get worse.
