19" vs 20" wheels on Turbo S
 

I'm new to this forum and just purchased a 06 CTTS with 55k miles. Hello all, I'm in Virginia and sometimes Baltimore.

I test drove a bunch of Turbos earlier with smaller wheels and was impressed with the ride comfort.

Now, I want to maximize ride comfort of the CTTS I purchased, which has stock 20" wheels with Yoko Parada SpecX tires.

I drive a lot and want this to be my daily driver. Any suggestions for wheels and tires at 19"? Is it worth going this route for the improved ride?

Not going to be a lot of difference between 19-20. That only nets a 1/2 of sidewall IF the tires happen to run the same diameter.

You can almost find tires that are "technically" the same size that have 1/2 of difference in them.

Also, some tires just ride softer than others. It is probably more criticle to choose the right tire. (sorry, I don't have a nice riding suggestion. Mine are designed to grip)

More choice for 20" tires compared to 19", sorta like 16" versus 17" back in the days.

I've been surprised at how many choices there are for 19s in the car sizes. I've got 19s on my 928S4 and you can even get snow tires in nice fat sizes.


Options for SUV sizes are much more limited.

I doubt you'd notice anything significant to justify 19'' but I'll trade you my 19s for your 20s :)

If you drive a lot then don't use PZero Rosso, they wear out quickly.

I like the Latitude HP Tour, nice and comfortable (19's) and the wear is excellent.

I don't think the ride comfort between 19 and 20 will be that big of a difference. You may want to ask TireRAck, I heard some went to a 275/45/20 to get a bit more sidewall.

I have the DWS on my Subaru, this was my 1st winter with them. We got almost 100 inches of snow in January and I had a BLAST driving in it. I had some buddies in my car returning from a late night at a bar during a heavy snow storm and they were shocked how well the car handled, one guy's fiance has a Subbie too and he said my car way outhandled hers.

I will warn you they do need to break in for the 1st 2000 miles so they will be a noisy at highway speeds but after that they are quiet as a church mouse. I am hoping to trade my car in for a new one in April and I will have the DWS's installed without a question.

I have Continental DWS tires on 20" wheels on my Cayenne. They are the best tires I've had on it. It came new with Continental Extreme Contact summer tires. They weren't bad, but they were noisy and didn't last long. I replaced them with Hankook Ventus tires. That was a mistake. The DWS seems like a very good compromise. I do drop down to 18s with Pirelli Scorpions for winter.

Cannot find the DWS's in stock. Anyone like Michelin Sports? Is there anything close the the Continentals in ride comfort?

Well the winter is a long while away so unless you need new tires ASAP you should wait. For the $$$ they are so hard to beat. My car had Bridgestone RE92's at $268each and the DWS were $128, so look at the savings. Worth waiting for.

Dang, they seem to be almost double that now.

I don't have a Cayenne, I have a Subaru Legacy. I just checked TireRack, I used your 2006 CTT-S with 20 inch rims, They were $255 which when I looked at the other tires was pretty cheap. There were 20 tires that were more $$ some ALOT more $$.

I'd be willing to buy some 19" wheels with Michelins as well. On my 20": Trying to hold out for the DWS's but not sure I'll make it. I may get some Tour HPs.
