Coolant Pipe Failure Database Summary - ARM YOURSELF with this info if ur pipes fail!

As some of you may know, a while back I established an online database for capturing data on Coolant Pipe failures. Shortly thereafter, I gave a group of lawyers access to the DB in hopes that it would serve as a resource in a pending class action suit. As I see more and more threads popping up on CP failures, I figured I would post this as a resource for anyone that has a future or current failure and has to do battle with the dealer / PCNA.

Here are the current stats as of 8/19/2011

For reference, here is the form connected to the DB: https://www.smartsheet.com/b/publish...652d1240be51ad

Sadly, if her car has no warranty left, then no. If the class action suit goes through, she will receive some compensation, but no guarantee as to how much. Concerning the shop repair, did they give her a quote yet? If it's just the lines, perhaps I can give you some more details that will help her save some bucks. Send me a PM with the info.

Manufacturer data?

Congratulations on this initiative - I'm worried that my '04 TT has this problem, and I applaud your efforts.

The 166 cases you've documented are, of course, only a fraction of the total. Might you be able to find out from Suncoast how many aftermarket replacement kits they've sold? The factory makes a kit, too; but they might not be so forthcoming with this information.

Your link to photos is most helpful: http://www.dartauto.com/projects/porsche-cayenne/ Still, I can't see how can I tell if my car's pipes have been replaced. They're concealed by the intake plenum. Will they be visible when I have my noisy water pump replaced this week?

Guess Im Going to feel your pain first hand :-(

I thought my CTT06 was heating up because it drinks mobile oil like a fish. I think about a quart a month or so (have no idea why it does this but that's a separate issue). Any how I noticed the coolant error on the dash and top it off thinking it was due to it running a little low on oil. Unfortunate, I drove off this morning and noticed lots of fluid on the drive way. About a mile down the road coolant light came on again. I took off the covers to get a closer look and can't find the leak. Was hoping it was the coolant reservoir or a small hose but I guess I'll be replacing the pipes. I've looked through the forums for a tutorial or walkthrough but no luck anyone have the link to this repair. If not I guess I'll be doing my own . Really want to thank you guys for doing all this work on this issue it really helps others once the coolant hits the fan . Any input is greatly appreciated

I'd suggest having it towed - running the engine without coolant is a short path to engine destruction. And you left the house after seeing a large puddle under the car?

I guess I wrote that wrong :-(
I made sure it was full on water before I tested it and only had the engine on for over a minute.Didn't use a tow truck because my garage was only about a block away. Btw I entered my info for the class act :-) again thank you for all your hard work. Ordering the parts from suncoast.

I also had my torque converter seal go bad after my coolant tubes ruptured. All of this happened at approximately 68000 miles.
