Rear Proximity Sensors Issue - Couldn't believe the solution!

So here I was, getting my hitch harness installed for an upcoming track day.
Installed no problem. Installed the hitch ball mount and went to track day, all OK.
When returned, unhooked the trailer and noticed that the rear proximity sensors were acting up. Whenever I would put the car into reverse, the rear sensors lit up and emitted the alarm of being close to an object.
This happened a few times, and for some reason just went away on its own after several days each time.

Just last night, returned from COTA and noticed the same thing, the sensors acting up again. Pissed off not knowing what causes the issue, as the sensors are supposed to be deactivated when hooking up the trailer.
Started troubleshooting and research. Cannot come up with any plausible solution. Just then, on the way to pick up my son, decided to remove the hitch ball mount from the hitch. Removed the lock, slid the thing out and put away.
Get in the car, start, put into reverse, and notice that the acting up sensors are no longer acting up. The only solution is that the sensors are picking up the metal from the hitch ball mount and go crazy. The only way to explain this. Anyone notice same thing? How is this not documented somewhere (or is it)?

i think we have the same connectors, don't know about the stinger. mine does not go off.

mine doesn't go off either and I've left the hitch ball on all the time now.
Only thing I notice with the trailer attached is that the power lift gate doesn't work with the remote (kinda makes sense I suppose), but initially I thought it had crapped out <duh>...

It just depends on which hitch you have in it and if the sensors are picking up the ball. It thinks it an object and an imminent threat!

I have a couple of hitch/ball set ups laying around for various vehicles/trailers/heights some are pciked up by the sensors, some are not.

toTo replicate.Good to know. I was getting agitated at thought i have to fix them, but then Removed the ball and all issues went away. Was very relieved and surprised after i was able to replicate.

If I remember I'll try to actually test which hitch works (doesn't screw with the sensors)and which one doesn't work without messing with the sensors.

I think it was just a slight difference in the "drop" of the hitch that made the difference.

My hitches kinda get shuffled between the truck and the CTT so I always forget which one works. (And I usually remove it when done anyway)

Now that i think about it, the ball i have has a 2" drop. Could well be the drop, but will be great if you can help confirm
