It's time to start thinking snow tires again!

I know it's still warm out, but it's time to start thinking snow tires. Last year many of you procrastinated and there was nothing left available when you found out the hard way that you really did need them. Especially the Turbos.
We presently have the 20" Mille Miglia Cup3GT in stock and Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow or Continental Winter Contact in 275/40 20. The wheels take the Porsche centercap. 18 and 19" snow tires are available as well. Don't wait too long. We DID run out of tires last year by thanksgiving. Call or PM Me. |
mine still works perfect :D but I need a set for my gf. Should I get all season or snow tires? because its a hassle to use snow tires for summer.

What's a snow tire?

carbonissimo:
That was just plain mean:(. How I envy you... DEETZ: Get a dedicated snow tire setup. You know what happens to Cayennes with all seasons on in the winter from some of our freinds and it was not too pretty. |
I did a Porsche Winter Driving course last March. I really got to see the difference between dedicated snows and 4-seasons. I myself wasn't a firm believer in Winter tires before that day.
The Manager of my Porsche dealer (he is a track professionnal with many years of racing experience etc.) was there with a Cayenne S on brand new Four-seasons and he was going slower than most of us and still managed to lose control and slam into a snow bank. We pulled him out with no damage - but it was a friendly reminder of how good winter tires really are. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...-compress1.jpg |
Blizzaks on our FX turn it from a joke to a dream on snow and ice.

I dont know, but I use all season M+S 18 as my winter tire to tahoe when I go snowboarding, i have no issues, been through 2 blizzard still no problems, was following my brother on a Forester with dedicated snowtires and he's too slow so i passed him and have him follow me. I'm using the Geolander HT-S M+S G052, it have almost 13K miles on it, was wondering if I should replace it with Pirelli Ice and Snow or go with the same

Thanks Guys.
Funny that every chance I get in the Winter I head to where there's lots of snow. Wish I had my Porsche with me! |

Originally posted by damon@tirerack Many people have no complaints with their all season tires on snow, and many do fine. But when you try dedicated snows you IMMEDIATELY realize their traction is nothing like it. I wasn't a believer either until I started doing this, and I find myself laughing at the people who can't get around as I am passing them through the snow. For the skeptics, I say just try them. You'll never go back in the winter. In that case I'll be ordering the 18 Pirelli Ice and snow from you:D I'll get in touch with you soon... |
