2008 Turbo over GTS?

Any reason NOT to get the Turbo over the GTS? I love the GTS seats, but it appears most other things are the same (besides the engine obviously). I can get either at about the same price point. Any reliability shortcomings in one over the other?

Forgot to mention, I have a problem with modding the car before I even get it, so I'm leaning turbo

Hey whats up man, this forum helped me a great deal when making the same decison.
I test drove both, although I liked some of the styling like the sidekirts, all painted front and rear bumpers and the rear wing of the GTS. I would never looked back I picked up a turbo S. The power in the GTS is awesome as well would never take anything away from that and rides smooth as well. But something about that twin turbo and with a few simple mods this thing has become a beast. I like my interior better then the GTS but this is personal prefence man.

As far as reliability I beleive these vehicles are built well, but like any vehicle you need to maintain it and the repairs at times can be costly but you have to expect that from a vehicle of this caliber. If your good with a wrench some of these repairs can be done by yourself and save some more coin for MODDING!!

I would say test drive both and see for yourself, Ive modded a few turbo vehicles and have always been happy with the results. hope this helps a bit feel free to ask more

What mods did you do? I'm planning on 2nd cat delete pipes, intakes, & mild exhaust. Don't want it to be too loud, but def want that V8 rumble.

22's will come when the tires need to be replaced.

Yeah, if they would ever pick up there phone, answer an email, or respond in any way at all! I'm about ready to do a chargeback on my CC with them. I ordered bypass pipes over 2 weeks ago and can't get any response! They sure do process the payments though! Can't recommend them to anyone!

There are two reasons to buy a GTS over a turbo, IMO:
1. Manual transmission
2. Sound
If neither of these are that important to you, go Turbo. The turbo doesn't sound terrible or anything, but I think most would agree that the GTS sounds better. All of the interior and exterior features of the GTS were optionally available on the Turbo.

The GTS is a great car because of the manual gearbox. Personally, if I were to buy one, I would twin turbo it, but that's also exactly why I wouldn't buy one in the first place.

For me personally *no offense to any GTS owners*, I think it's a waste to put a manual gearbox in the Cayenne. The Cayenne is a sport SUV, with emphasis on SUV, if you want a Porsche with a manual gearbox, buy a 911. Better yet, save your coin and buy a 911 turbo.

All sarcasm aside, buy a turbo, it's so easy to make big horsepower gains with a forced induction car. You can even get your Tiptronic tuned for more aggressive shift points to compensate for AOD.

You'll miss big HP in your SUV far more than a manual gearbox.

Just my 2 centavos.

Turbo all the way- But look for one with the comfort seating package. I have had sooo many people tell me they are the most comfortable, supportive seats they have ever felt. I dont see may with that option. Not to mention full leather interior. If you like to mod you will never be happy with the GTS. The CTT really is a HEAVY pig. IMO the turbo models are just a cut above in every way and the tiptronic tranny shifts very quickly and nicely.

One thing I noticed that is available on the GTS but not the turbo is the Alcantara seats and door panel trim, same goes on the Panamera models.

I would love to see someone buy a Turbo and add the GTS Alcantara seats, steering wheel. (Don't think shift **** and armrest were avaible in 08).

Not sure if you were including Turbo S models, but my 09 CTTS has the alcantara inserts in the seats front and rear.
