Warranty Expired got a Check Engine
Maybe just a coincidence but my factory warranty expired in February and my check engine came on this week. I absolutely love my Cayenne, and I do have a third party extended warranty that will cover the check engine (thermostat problem and a bad horn).
Yes with repairs being so expensive on this SUV I didn't feel comfortable without a warranty. I got a 6 year/100k mile warranty for $1600 when I bought my used GTS. The dealer charged $875 to replace the thermostat which was covered 100%. Yeah I do the easy stuff (oil/filter change, tire rotation, brake job) but I was glad the dealer replaced the thermostat and dead horn. Years ago I bought a used 928 with 60k on it and got the extended warranty, within 6 months it paid for itself when the water pump went out and while they were replacing that the belt tensioner broke and needed to be replaced total $2000 covered 100%.
I got my GTS off lease from CarMax (2010 with 19k miles, very clean). I bought the SUV because I was looking for a white 2010 GTS with low mileage and they offered an extended warranty. The warranty is provided by "The Warranty Group" and covers everything except normal maintenance items (oil/brakes/filters) and emission related parts.
