BamaScoot's Build/Journal Thread

Took delivery on 5/17. Was bone stock. Some of you probably remember me debating the purchase in this thread. Now that I have it will keep track of all progress here.

How I received the car:
115k miles. ALL service done. Items replaced:
Battery, water pump, secondary air pump at 114k miles
Brakes bled 106k miles
Coolant pipes replaced 98k miles
PCM replaced 86k miles
Brake pads/rotors/sensors replaced 86k miles
Left valve cover and left lower turbo pressure pipe replaced 86k miles
Drive shaft assembly replaced 67k miles
TCU replaced 56k miles
Coils/plugs replaced 51k miles
NEEDS valve body replaced in transmission. Will be upgrading with RevMax as soon as I have some time to do the work myself.
Will probably also replace coils/plugs again just because it idles a bit rougher than I'd prefer. Not bad at all, more of a preventative measure.

Since delivery:
15% front window tint and strip on top of windshield
Clear sidemarkers
Durametric cable ordered (mainly for lowering)
New headlight rubber surrounds
Full detail (clay, polish, wax, headlight restoration, etc) scheduled for next Tuesday
Piano black pillar trim and black "turbo" badge will go on after full detail

Coming soon:
21" Wheel Dynamics 808 series gloss black w/ red stripe wheels
Secondary cat bypass pipes

Maybe eventually:
EVOMS intake and tune

Finally, a picture of the filthy fat pig:

SO DAMN HIGH!!! And this is in low mode. Ridiculous.

I have to say thats the first CTT that I have seen with 19" wheels. If you are planning on getting 21" wheels the sting is worse than 19"s. I would go with a 20" great selection and prices dont sting as bad when it comes to replacement.

Missed the FedEx guy by 5 minutes this afternoon, and I can't go pick them up tonight from a warehouse or anything. FedEx is such a PITA. UPS you can just go pick it up that night. Gotta wait another day I guess.

I dislike them as well but when you own a business they are the best/fastest. Would be nice if they didnt have to worry about signatures 24/7

Another newb

Interesting to read this thread. I just bought an '05 CTT about a month ago and am going through several of the same issues as you right now. Mine only has 70K miles but needs the trans valve body too. Have a revmax unit on the way, was hoping it would be here in time to do it this weekend but doesn't look like it now.

I'll keep an eye on how things go for you! Mine is an 05 black/black with iE81 kit. Oh yeah the brakes need to be done too so that'll be another $2K in parts!! What have I gotten myself into!!!???

I put a sprint-booster on the throttle the other day. Now that was a great little mod and not too bad on the pocket-book at about $300. MUCH better throttle response!!

Are you planning on doing the revmax yourself? Lift, jacked up, or just in "high terrain" mode? I'll be interested to hear how it goes. I'm used to working under low cars and want to attempt it in high terrain mode if at all possible. Seems like a pretty straight forward job.

Still thinking about it. I found a local shop that said they would do it but want $400 just to swap it. It sure seems like an easy job to me so I will likely do it myself. I put it up the other day and would want more room than that, but I'm a pretty big dude too. I like to have a little room to maneuver around. I was able to get under there and could probably do it, but it will be easier up on stands.

I'm used to working on a real low car so I have a couple good jacks and some good stands too. Should be real easy to get this up a bit and on the stands. With my 308 sometimes the hardest part of the job is getting it up on stands!!

The little ride up car ramps/stands are great. Lift it 8 inches or so and dont need to sit there cranking a jack up.

Yeah I have some rhino ramps. May just drive it up those and place some jack stands underneath for safety. Don't know how the difficult/safety of changing it on an incline would be affected. Seems like it'd put less stress on the components and bolts etc to go straight up/down. Either way should be fun.

The dealer called and said the air bypass valve was clogged now. So I called the previous dealer that did the air pump and fought with them, saying the bypass valve wasn't clogged when they did work and now it is so it's obviously something they did. I even specifically asked the guy from previous dealer when he did the air pump to double check and make sure all debris was out of all lines because I had read this could be a problem if it wasn't removed. So the previous dealer is paying the new dealer for the work. Booyah. In the meantime I have an Audi Q7 and a big road trip this week so... no complaints from me!

The only thing I'd really worry about doing it on just one set of ramps is filling it. You want it to be level then. Other than that I'm sure it would be fine.
