Dealership wont upgrade PCM unit for Gateway
Hello!
I've been trying to get my local dealership to upgrade my PCM unit for my 2003 Cayenne. It has the phone unit but no cd changer. They claim it is physically impossible to install the unit since it doesn't have the cd changer. Dension and several others claim that it is a matter of reprogramming.
Is there anyone on this forum that has encountered a similar problem? If so, how did you solve it? So I know what to tell the dealership workshop.
Best regards!

I have 2 P-cars about 10 yrs old (955 base and a 997S) ... and I've absolutely had it with those PCMs.
For the Cayenne, I ended up replacing the PCM and nav with an aftermarket "955 'ready' Android double-din replacement. (The kit included two wiring harnesses, GPS antenna, Porsche CANBUS, etc.)
The head unit didn't come with any real instructions, but it was fairly easy DIY. Only had one minor issue with reinstalling the GPS nav app with the proper map...but the tech support was pretty good. They even sent me a custom video during trouble shooting.
The unit works pretty well with the steering wheel buttons, has a touch screen interface, BT connectivity, 2 USB's, mic/phone, etc. I bought a little AppleCarPlay module which plugs into the USB. Other than the GPS app taking a few minutes to load up, this represents a significant upgrade.

There's a slightly newer version on Amazon, too. Looks like same manufacturer.
