Clear Corner Lenses Installation

How difficult is it to install clear corner lenses on the Cayenne? Is this a DIY installation or is professional assistance required? I tried searching the archives but came up empty...

Thanks in advance!

I did it myself using a DIY guide on rennlist. It wasnt "easy" but it wasnt difficult. It took me about 1 hour.

So I finally got around to ordering a set of clear corner lenses from bumperplugs.com. Following the instructions provided (thanks again!), my friend and I were able to successfully install them. That said, it was definitely not an easy install...it took us a couple of hours (my disclaimer: I'm not that "handy"). Here's a couple of pictures of the results (sorry, they're not great pictures...I took these right before I put my snow tires on):

I think it's a great improvement...thanks again to everyone for their help!

took you a couple of hours? why so long? my main complication was dropping a screw in the wheel well. that was not fun at all!

Ha, tell me about it...I'll have to do it in the spring once I get my summer wheels back on (and after I get a set of 19-inch wheels for the 911)...

It was sort of a comedy of errors; it took a couple of hours for the following reasons:
  • We had a really difficult time peeling the fender liner back; it just didn't want to budge.
  • We didn't have the correct length extender for the torxscrew wrench; we had to pick up the correct one at Sears.
  • Finally, after installing the second clear corner, we discovered that the bulb was no longer functional...so we had to go pick up a replacement set...
I did mention I wasn't very "handy," right?

I am very handy, and it took me a while too, so don't feel bad. That back screw is a pain to reach, and then getting the covering ligned back up right . . . what a pain! However, it looks soooo much better.
Just remember, the more you do the handier you get!
