Interior fan squeaks when turning left...help
As the title says, the interior fan just began to squeak...usually starts when you make a left hand turn!! Sounds like a bearing is dry or something...has anyone else had this problem?? If so, is replacing the blower a possible DYI, and what do the blowers usually cost??
Thanks,
Thanks,

Yes i had the same problem rhis summer-Mine sounded like a little bird was chirping in my passenger glove compartment. It was kind of hard to explain to the dealer and isolate what it was exactly because like you mention it was only during right hand turns in my case, but the dealer ended up putting a new blower in. For a time i thought it was something qith the suspension. However over the span of about a month and running the A/C on end with the 100 degree summer in texas it finally crapped out. Sorry I don't know of cost as mine was replaced under CPO. There is quite a bit of room to work in that passenger footwell so I wouldn't think it's too hard of a DIY-

Well....my engine light came on so I took it to the dealer yesterday, turns out my coils crapped out so got them replaced under the coil extended warranty!! While there I had the dealer replace the fan for me, it cost $411 but comes with a 2 year warranty on the blower and seeing how the lowest price I could find just for the blower was $201.00 figured I get it done!!

This blower motor assembly should be interchangeable with the VW toureag part - which is a few bucks cheaper. This is a well documented DIY. The part can be located for less than $150. I found one for my '08 for around $100, but believe it was aftermarket and not OEM.

FWIW, I found the speed resolution in the lower range wasn't as good on my non OEM replacement. It actually ended up mattering because the first three bars for fan speed is where mine spends most of its time.

I had this issue in an Volvo V70 that I used to have. I removed the blower fan, then lubricated the shaft where it enters the motor. That eliminated the squeak for the subsequent four years I owned the car. To get the oil into the shaft, I had to drill a small hole into the plastic hub of the fan in order to drip the oil into the right spot. Worked like a charm, cost a total of 1 hour.

Sorry it didn't work out. Worth a try in my opinion.
