yes you can install yourself. no, you DO need to get your car realigned.

that is the big question, is there enough factory adjustment to make a difference?

I just tried to take the lowering links off and it was impossible to put the stock links back on

$200 down the tubes!

Getting them off was not an issue, it was getting the stocks back on..

I tried to adjust mine the other week there and found them coroded solid. I tried to turn them with a spanner and the fixed part started to turn in the alloy section.
I suppose I could have greased them more but a quick jet wash and its off again!
Not very happy as I am now stuck with the height Ive got!
Haven't tried to replace with old ones, not at all surprised at it being so hard.

Put this mod down to experience- you get what you pay for!

I guess you lose at least $200 when you sell used coilovers, so you have to look at it that way right?
