TPMS in 22's
 

Is anyone using 22 inch wheels with TPMS? Which wheel/tire size did you input when programming the system? Since 22's are not an option in the system I used the 275/40x20. I'm getting a lot more low pressure warnings then with the stock tires. Maybe I'm running too close to the low end of the pressure limit. What tire pressure do you guys recommend with 285/35x22?

what happens to TPMS if you put on wheels with no sensors? Any warnings come on?

Sorry BD 977, can't answer that one. I put the sensors in the Techarts right from the start. But as I was trying to program the TPMS I did notice you can turn it off. I would assume if you mount tires without TPMS you just turn the system off.

I have TPMS sensors on my 22-inch wheels. If the TPMS system is active and sensors are not present on your wheels, you will receive an error message (complete with loud beeps) after approximately five minutes of driving. You can turn the TPMS system off, although you will always get a "TPMS" system off warning (with no beep I believe) when you start the car.

In terms of configuring the TPMS system for use with 22s, I selected the largest wheel/tire size the computer had available. I believe the pressure readings read about 2psi lower than actual values.

Obviously, the real value of the TPMS system is that it lets you know when you have critical pressure loss, which may be difficult to visually see given the low tire profile and stiff sidewalls of tires on 22-inch wheels. It definitely works...don't ask me how I know that... :)

In terms of recommended tire pressures, I believe I was running 42psi front and 48psi rear last summer for my 295/35-22 tires (truth be told, I'm still on winter wheels/tires...I haven't put the summer tires back on yet).

Good news! Dealer can programm wheels for 2006- TPMS with system tester. after you can select 22s in cluster menu. but do you know correct pressure for your tires? dealer should enter figures during programming - for FA/RA and part/full load.
