Ipods and Cayennes?

What are my options? I didn't turn up much in the search.

We have an 08 with Nav. I still can't believe for what these trucks cost that they don't have an mp3 adapter included.

Anyway, what are most of you using at this point?

I got an 08 in May and the dealership told me they would become available between Sept. to Dec. They didn't have a def date but said it would probably be in that area sometime.

I'm not sure what you mean? Is Porsche going to have an option for current owners to retrofit, or will the newer released models already have it built in? We got ours in May as well.

You'll be able to buy the cable from the dealership. The quoted me at two hundred but who knows. To me this is a better option than the aftermarket brands because the steering wheel controls will still work.

deputydog95 08-19-2007 10:42 AM

Cool. I wonder if there is a way to research this any further. Sounds like a great option. I'd like to look into this more to see when it will actually be available, pricing, and what the install will be like.

This setup would be more than a couple hundred bucks though.

True you can get an icelink but it costs five hundred for the equipment and i was quoted at three hundred for instilation. Another thing is with the icelink your steering wheel controls won't work the ipod.

have you tried the NavTV unit? I have it in my brothers Turbo and it works great.

DRKDDS 08-22-2007 08:10 PM

I got my '05 CS in June and I was under the impression that the CD player could read mp3 CD's. I'm pretty bummed that it doesn't. I'm also amazed that car manufacturers don't put an auxiliary jack on the factory stereos (on ALL cars). I had a 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon that had an auxlliary jack..WTF?

deputydog95 08-26-2007 12:00 PM

I got an email from my sales guy at Suncoast. He said they are coming out with a Porsche factory tequipment ipod adapter. I am supposed to call the parts guy on Monday for more details.

I have sold and installed more than 10 of the navtv OPIP it works great and gives you text display .Also has an optional aux input you can add for an extra $99 .
pm me if you need one i can get it . Install should take less than 2 hours so $300 is rediculous .
it should be $150-200

The MSRP on the NavTv is like $700 though, right? So it's more like $900 installed?

It's an awesome accessory, but I hate the idea of paying almost triple what the ipod costs to play it in my car. The posche factory piece is rumored to be $200 plus install, and will also be controlled by the head unit. We'll see. No Tv though :( It would be cool to be able to run movies through the factory Nav.

PORSCHEAUDIOLUV 08-26-2007 12:35 PM

I can sell the navtv peice for $560 + shipping.
and you can have it next week .Dont think of it as triple the cost of the ipod . Think of it as it is still less expensive than the factory cd changer it replaces , AND you will have all your music in the car w/ you at all times .More than likely the factory piece will not perform the same , will not let you add and extra aux , and will not let you control from head unit , steering wheel or IPOD . The navtv will let you do all of the above.
As for Dension , I have at least 4 of their kits leftover for other vehicles but basically they chose to remove themselves from the us market when they split up from their US distributer which has now become DICE .

MeanMachine 08-29-2007 01:09 AM

i got feed up waiting for a kit specific to the cayenne, so i got my self one of those fm modulators that hooks up to the pcm and uses a blank station. At first i thought it wont be as clear as a kit from the oem but actually its fine and very clear here in kuwait with the 8gb nano.

Ill get the name of the specific kit i am using later on.
