Only time will tell for me. Ive never had ceramics and wanted to try them on my new one. Some people are for and some against. I live in co and will not be tracking my turbo but I opted for them anyways. Waste of money?? That's relative.
Good luck

Have either of you driven the Cayenne with the Red Brakes? I had the Red Brakes on my Cayman and they really scrubbed off the speed quick. The upfront cost isnt the big issue with ceramic brakes its the replacement costs that keep coming up every time you wear them out.

Chances if I have to replace Oem ceramics I'd opt for higher performing aftermarkets that out perform.

i dont think there are much aftermarket brakes out there that can outperform the ceramic brakes option that Porsche is offering? Brembo? AP racing? Alcon?

Having read many times that ceramic brakes don't fare so well in cold climes, I'd stay with the big standard OEM brakes. However, in comparison, ceramics are supposed to last longer. Perhaps 185,000 miles. The lesser standard brakes require a lot of service and replacement rotors.

Waste of $ is a personal choice. They sure look cool. As far as being necessary, I doubt it. The silvers on the "S" are more than enough. The reds are better (Brembo makes them). Unless you are on the track, where you are really heating them up, there is no functional reason for the ceramics.

I upgraded the blacks on my 996 to the big reds and it was definietely worth it. My Cayenne S has the silvers and I have never wanted for more braking. Just sayin'

I have the Carbon/Ceramics on my 2011 Panamera. They are great. I dont race or anything but love the feel and no brake dust to clean up is awesome.
