4000 mile road trip in the CTT

What a great car for an extended road trip.
Started in Seattle and drove down to SanDiego in about 2.5 weeks. 4-6 hour drives on most days and the car was great. Super comfortable and super fun in the twisties on Hwy 1 and 101 along the CA coastline.
Home trip deviated to Las Vegas and then straight up through Nevada to Idaho and then back towards Seattle.
Hwy 93 thorugh NV was spectacular. Long smooth roads with NOTHING around for miles. So easy to get 100+ and not even notice in the turbo.
Averaged 19mpg over the entire trip which I thought pretty decent based on the type of driving.
Burned 2 quarts of oil which is much less than expected. I was having to put 1 qt in every 600miles without fail before the trip. Havent added any in last 1500 miles!
ONLY complaint is a small creak/rattle in the sunroof control area - amazing how the little tiny thing will get to you when nothing else to focus on for several hours driving :-) Dealer looks at in a couple of days.

Thanks for posting. I'm about to head out on a 1000+ road trip on Friday and looking forward to it. I spent 1400+miles and 4 days in the 2011 Dogde Charger, which was a remarkable vehicle initially and then the shortcoming started shining through. Great cruiser overall, but hp in the 292hp version seemed anemic. Materials were good. Fit and finish were good and value for $$ was good, but it is a heavy vehicle with a 5spd auto...+ the vehicle tended to understeer and lean too much when driven aggressively in corners + it is heavy, which could be felt in all facets of driving. Cannot wait to see what the trip in the 2011 CS reveals.

So far I've been adding a quart every 2000 miles (mostly city) or so, which is quite disconcerting considering my previous vehicle used none in between oil changes every 5000+ miles. I guess that it's a fact that will have to be lived with for the performance achieved in this class of vehicle...

All in all, I'm pleased thusfar and looking forward to testing this cars limits.

Wow, that seems like a lot of oil... is it normal to have to keep topping off the oil on cayenne's?

Yep, well documented in other threads - new turbos need oil about every 600-1000miles. Dealer told me this upon delivery "plan to add oil regularly"

Ah, because of the turbos. Makes sense.

Drove close to 4K miles during my tourist delivery
75% on the Autobahn, with some very spirited driving there
Never had to add a drop(never got any warning signals either)...
Could not think of a better car for a road trip
And yesssss, the drive i had from Santa Barbara to Carmel-by -the sea,via Morro Bay along the coast ...was one of the most pleasant drives I have ever had(not 100% sure my back seat passengers felt the same way though!)
