2001 Cayenne S or S Hybrid
Is there anything wrong with the 2011? I always know that the first year is bad and to go with at least the second year (2012+)
I am looking at the Cayenne S vs the Cayenne S Hybrid. The Turbo is the dream, but a bit of a stretch right now.
Here are the specs.
Cayenne S
- 400 HP
- 0-60 in 5.6 seconds
- 22 mpg
Cayenne S Hybrid
- 300 HP
- 0-60 in 6.1 seconds
- 24 mpg
You would think that the Hybrid, because it is much slower, would give MUCH more mpg, but it only gives 2 more. Whats the deal? They are similiarly priced. Thoughts?
Originally, I was looking at the Panamera. Need to get a bigger car, but they are too expensive right now. It seems like even a comparable 2011 Panamera S vs a Cayenne S, costs much more $15k more on average. You can get Cayenne S in the $60k and the Cayenne Hybrid S in the $65k. 2011 Panamera S start in the $80k.

as far as i know, there are no issues with the 2011 models. Your CS Hybrid data is not correct - it has in the 380hp range (not sure if yours was a typo). I recently sold my Hybrid and although the original sticker price was more than the CS, I found that the hybrid market was not strong and as such, I would suspect that you should be able to find a decent deal on a hybrid in the used market.
I sold my hybrid because i flat-out did not like the drivetrain and the MPG savings was trivial compared to the CS, especially for my type of driving (short commute with button typically in sport mode). Compared to other SUVs, it was a fantastic car, but compared with the CS, it had no soul.
