Cayenne 958.2 LEd headlights retrofit
Hello,
I just bought 2 led headlights for my cayenne 958.2 2016 model, with control units.
Anyone have any idea what i have to do to make them work ?!
Suncoast says that i dont need any wiring modification but dealer programming..
Any idea what i have to do in Piwis II or Piwis III ?
Thank you
Nick

If you don't get a good answer here, you may want to head over to the 958 forum at Rennlist. Lots of helpful folks over there, too.

Any chance I need to Rewire the pin? anyone had tried this before with the wire sequential diagram?
or just need to program via PIWIS II ?

Hey... I've got a 958.2 LED headlamp for my 958.1 cayenne. The back socket fits perfectly, but it doesn't light up the moment I plug in.

I have just done the rear end facelift:

I'm very interested in doing the front as well.

Are you doing the complete front facelift (hood, fenders, front bumper, headlights) ? I assume the headlights are slightly diffrent in shape 958.1 vs 958.2, correct ?

Is your car Bi-Xenon with PDLS equipped ?
Suncoast, who sells factory Bi-Xenon to LED upgrade kits for 958.2 cars, says that the kit is only for cars with Dynamic Cornering Lights (PDLS) and PCM:
https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...958LEDBLK.html
They also say that the kit comes with some control units - my guess is that those are needed to make the PDLS Plus feature work. After that you also need new programming.
All that assuming there are no other differencies between 958.1 and 958.2 models, which would make such a conversion impossible.

Mine are bi xenon with cornering lights. I do not think any 958.1 comes with PDLS. I also do not expect a PDLS feature once upgraded, only with headlights and Daylight led will be sufficient.

If you have the cornering lighs, then you should have the PDLS (I think this is the same).
My car is bi-xenon equipped and has the DPLS feature. It is very easy to check:

The LED equipped cars come with PDLS plus.
You can also check if your car has one of the following options installed: 8BE/8EA/8EE/8EF/8EG/8JE
My car has 8JE: Xenon + PDLS Porsche Dynamic Light System, LHD
I have used https://www.autodna.com to check for all options that are installed on my car.

Both of this my 958.1 headlamp socket fits well in with my 2015 LED headlamp.
Hopefully no internal wiring needed but just to activate via PIWIS 2.
I have also came across with 958.2 led lamp activation via this link
https://porsche.oemdtc.com/TSB/SB-10058303-9269.pdf
not sure if that’s the configuration needed

You may try to repin the sockets. VAG (VW, Audi, Porsche etc) is known for changing the pin layout in their pre / post FL cars. My guess is that they do that to make retrofiting FL parts more difficoult.
That said, when I did the FL retrofit on my Audi S5 and then the Audi Q5, headlights did not require changing the pin layout. Only the taillights did.
Get the multimeter to find out which cable carries which signal. Then try various combinations to light the LED up. That may work ... unless they have a control module inside which needs to be reprogrammed.

My 2011 CTT most definitely came with PDLS. Testing them with the iCarScan there is an option for putting them into a cycling side-to-side test (plus up-down test.) You can only do the side-to-side test with lights that have PDLS. Also on the build sheet for my car - they're listed (I think all the turbos get them on the 958 series.)
